Chapter 17 - Grumpy Grampa is Strapped?!

Thinking that the girls had told him that I was a shifting slime that could mimic objects because I morphed into their bag, I went back into my slime shape, making the Elder give me something to mimic, or at least that would be the most likely outcome. Sure enough, the elder took out his ceremonial-looking sword and placed it gently by my side. Scooching over as slowly and automatically as I possibly could, I enveloped the sword with the lethargy of a snail. Seeing the Elder stare at me as I slowly copied his sword, I knew that I had fooled him that I was an actual slime, albeit a weird one, by being able to copy things and turn them into them.

I thought that that was quick thinking on my part because if I had not thought of that, I probably would have been thrown out, or worse, killed. Finally mimicking his sword, I turned into it and laid as still as possible, trying not to move my structure as much as possible. Seemingly convincing the Elder, he picked me up and swung me with such force that I thought I would split in half. Not being able to hold me together, I loosened my structure in the middle of the blade to give it more reach, and for me to be able to keep it intact.

Doing this left a big scar on the side of the hut, which surprised all for beastkin. Looking on in wonder, the large warrior now handled me like a fierce weapon. Of course, this was all part of my plan. While it did feel like I was going to break apart, I thought that the Elder would have enough practice with a sword to be bored with the short length of them.

So, to relieve me but also impress the Elder, I created a greater reach of the sword, and also made the end of it slightly more sharp than the original sword, though the whip of it would not be noticed when it is going that fast. Now that the Elder has realized that I cannot be simply thrown away, I have made a place inside this village. Another thing I'm happy about is that I was able to make them think that all I could do is mimic objects, if not simple ones. With that demonstration over, I noticed that the girls, which I assume are the children of the Elder, have evacuated the hut, probably because they have never seen such powerful attacks before.

Not to brag, but I thought my performance was so good that I would become one of the main things that would be used in this village for a while, if not forever. At least, until I could get rid of all of the warriors in this village.

The only thing stopping me from being overconfident in my abilities is that I don't know how big the village is or how many people are in it. However, whatever I face now could not stop me from my goals. Nothing could anymore.

After that quick demonstration, the village Elder silently put me down on the desk inside the hut, which barely missed the slash that I made. Taking back his original sword and slid it back into its sheath with a click, his face not betraying anything he was thinking. After a couple of seconds, I returned to my slimy form, making him believe that I can only mimic the thing that is presented to me when it is recent, and when it is put away, I cannot form it any longer than that. This was important for the future.

Picking me up in his huge arms, he carried me outside, and while he strolled along, I was letting loose even more spores as well as bringing the ones I used inside the hut. Using the Imprinting ability to its max, I Imprinted the whole village into my mind in less than 10 steps the Elder took. Not knowing what I had just done, the beastman strolled with a purpose along A worn dirt trail, which I found led from the hut down a hill towards what I would assume would be the center of the village I Imprinted. Thinking that the house I was just in was the Elders' house and that indeed the girls were his children, I would need to be wary of this part of the village. The reason I say that I should be wary of this part of the village is that there could be many traps, bodyguards, or any other powerful enemies I could potentially face when coming over here in the future.

Anyways, as the leader of this village continued to walk towards the collections of huts, I scanned the area for any other beastkin or other species. Using the same technique as I did in the Elder's hut, I managed to find over 1,348 beastkin, and beastkin alone. This would make sense of course because I am in a beastkin village. The thing that shocked me the most was how advanced this race was.

Don't get me wrong, the technology back on earth is still far superior to what this village has to offer, but the tech in this town is amazing. They are at that stage of technological advancement from stone to metal. I sense pots, pans, carts, ovens, and even full weapon shops!

Oh, it looks like we are heading into one at this moment. There was no line to block us from getting in. I guess that is one of the perks you get for being the leader of a village. Anyways, a short, chubby beastkin, which I assume is a dog, welcomed us in with a wide smile, the kind you would get from meeting an old friend.

"So, the almighty village Elder decides to show his face inside a little weapons shop like this? This truly is an honor!" The shopkeeper said sarcastically. I thought this would anger the leader, but then both the weapons smith and the Elder both cracked out into laughter, the shopkeeper holding his stomach as if it might explode.

"Nice to see you too, Argas!" said the Elder. Bending down, He firmly shook the hand of the shop owner, who I know knows the name to be Argas.
