Tania steps into the garage and works towards her car. It was a grey colour Lamborghini murcielago which her grandfather got her as a present on her 18year old birthday.
She paused at the door and leaned her back against the body taking a deep breath has she tries to shake away the previous scenes. She really doesn't understand this her uncle and wife duo and she never will. She gave up trying to understand them long ago, they are just beyond salvaging.
After a couple of minutes, she uncrossed her legs, rummaged through her bag to search for her car keys which she couldn't find "damn it! I left them on the desk" she said upon realisation.
Now she was left with two options, it's either she goes back into the house to collect the key or find another means of transport. Glancing back at the house, she shook her head and opted for the second option going back into the house with what is obviously going on is definitely not an option.
"I"ll rather trek to wherever I'm going than to go back and witness that craziness" she thought and with that she walks out of the garage.
Now on the street she picks up her Mobile phone and dialled a number. " Hey sweetie" the feminine voice came from the other end "Hii how was your night she replied, and after exchanging pleasantries she went straight to the point . " I need a favour from you, I need to go somewhere;I'm currently in a fix and couldn't go in my car do you mind dropping me over" she asked in one breath.
"aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnn" an excited scream came from the voice on the other end of the call. " the princess finally needs my help somewhere else except school, hurrraaay!" the voice added with a bit of sacarsm. " stop being overly dramatic and get your ass here I'm running late" Tania said sounding as if irritated but a wide smile is plastered on her face. " Yes boss this body will report straight to duty" the voice replied with a fake salute and ended the call.
Tania stared at her phone screen with the smile still on her face. "what will I do without you guys" she murmured "feels good to have friends". The one on the phone was her best friend Mariam. She met Mariam when she had just lost her parents at the tender age of 13 and her grandfather had been diagnosed of demensia.
She was a lonely girl and coupled with the lack of love and care shown to her by her uncle and wife, she became cold and aloof towards everyone until she met the girl who was always in pink. That day it was raining heavily and just witnessed another heavy isolation and maltreatment from her uncle.
She went to her parents graveyard and was sitting beside their tomb under the heavy rain crying, with her face buried on her laps when suddenly she could hear the rain sound but the water was no longer touching her. She looked up to access the situation and she came face to face with the brightest and most genuine smile someone had ever shown her since her parents death.
The owner of the face smiling at her was a young girl about the same age as her that was tied up in pink ribbons. She was holding a pink umbrella over her head with the other hand stretched out towards her.
" Hello my name is Mariam, and I'm the angel of happiness if you don't mind can I know your name?". Tania didn't reply " well don't look at me like that , I noticed you from afar off since the past one hour you've been under the rain and I'm afraid you might catch cold" Mariam continued despite being ignored. " " The thing is we came here to bury my father and I noticed you since we've arrived, you look so depressed and I was thinking maybe you know….."
"Are you not supposed to be in pure black" Tania'squestion brought Mariam out of her rambling. She looked shock because Tania is now standing Meters away from her and she didn't realise it.
" what did you say" she said walking towards her. " I said are you not suppose to be in black, you said your father died" Tania asked again. She had decided to ignore Mariam and was walking away but she stopped at the statement of her coming to bury her dad.
" No I'm not . Why did you say that " Mariam asked looking confused. " well is that not the normal thing when people die, you wear black the colour of depression" Tania said innocently seemingly pissed at the young girl in front of her who had no respect for the dead.
"Pffft‼ hah hah hah hah" Mariam burst into uncontrollable laughter and still holding her stomach from the hard laughter she asked " Wtf. From where did you get that warped up logic why the hell is black the colour of depression. Don't you wear black on a normal day" "well that is…" Tania tried but couldn't find any words to back up her claim and she bursted out in anger " Why the fuck are you laughing so much, you just lost your fucking father‼‼!" she screamed at the top of her voice glaring at Mariam.
The colour on Mariam's face drained instantly and her smile vanished. They both stood staring at each other under the rain. Seconds passed into minutes. After a while Mariam walked over to Tania and said with a bitter smile " yes I just lost my father, yes it is painful, yes I cover my pain with laughter, yes I tried to stay positive even when I am crumbling inside, you know why? Because my dad once said LIFE IS NEVER FAIR IT ALWAYS WANT TO SEE YOU DOWN THAT'S WHY IT KEEPS THROWING SHIT AT YOU, IT WILL TAKE IMPORTANT THINGS FROM YOU AND TRY TO MAKE YOU FEEL WORTHLESS. BUT YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR HEAD STRAIGHT, NEVER CRUMBLE, STAND STRONG IN THE PRESENCE OF ADVERSITY, ALWAYS SMILE YES IT'S OK TO CRY BUT MAKE SURE TO STEP OUT OF IT QUICKLY. THAT'S HOW YOU WIN LIFE‼‼‼‼‼" she paused placed her hands on her shoulder and then continued "I guess the people whose tomb you were sitting are very important to you. But have you ever thought what they want for you right now is not for you to sit beside their tomb depressed and exposing yourself to harzadous nature" with that she removed her hands and walked off.
These words dropped on Tania and they were like a new realisation " always smile, yes it's ok to cry.... What my parents always want is my happiness" she repeated to herself and sped home. That marked the beginning of her knew relationship with her uncle where she stood up against their treatment.
"Tania, you didn't do the dishes on time so there is no dinner for you tonight"… " oh really I didn't know cause I just had the last pancakes in the house" and with that she went to the kitchen scooped the last pancakes into her plates smiles and walk out on them.
"Tania, why haven't you done the laundry…" " Hey woman the last time I checked I'm your in-law not your maid, if you need a maid get one, you sure can afford the service with the money you spend on parties and booze"
"I will send you packing out to the streets…" " oh really"she laughed hysterically " out of my own house. Wow that sure will be a nice scene and mind you, the street is not for me, I've got my grandpa."
Her uncle and wife's started turning sour from the demon they have created towards themselves. They started to fear her after he tried to hit her and she had them both locked up for two months for assault. Since then, they started living together more or less like neighbours having the least interaction with her. Tania was not at all bothered Because initially they've never cared about her they just wanted her fortune. All form of interaction had been them victimising her. She had decided to live her own life.
She casted away her gloomy nature and became free spirited chatting with people casually never allowing anything to weigh her down. She found out she had a keen insight in sniffing out facts and applied under her grandfather's detective college. She didn't meet Mariam again until 3 years later when the latter transferred schools. They became friends and this time around she was the one to approach first.
The loud horning down the street jolted her out of her thought. A pink Ferrari pulled over in front of her and the door opens. " Your driver for today is reporting to duty ma'am, do you have any request" Mariam beamed offering her a sacarstic bow. "you will never change" Tania rolled her eyes, walked past her and entered the car. Mariam followed suit and with that they were on their way to the farm house. They chatted merrily throughout the journey Tania forgetting all about her uncle.
