The villagers were amazed and annoyed at the same time. What they thought would be an interesting fight had turned out to be lackluster and plain shocking. With how the manifested curse had been, horrifying and looking menacing, they thought that Fifth had done something to weaken it.
Nolamine had dashed in with the intent to kill from the get-go. Through all the years, except for when he was young, he never used a weapon. Now he was using kunai knives and a branch to attack his opponents with.
He was more comfortable using his hands and feet, but he was not that naïve to think that they would deal more damage than a weapon at his current power and with the things he was fighting.
The curse stretched its claw-like hands and thrashed at him when he got close. It screeched as it did so, sanding a loud noise that was meant to irritate him and set him off balance. Most of the villagers who were watching covered their ears.
He parried one of its claws and dodged the other two as he swiftly got in at attacking distance to the curse. It, missing with its attacks and with its arms extended out was at that point defenseless. It showed its teeth and was about to lunge at him with its mouth wide open while its arms retracted, but it could not.
Nolamine had held the branch that was as tall as him and as big as a bat above his head when he had managed to get close to it and swung it down with every strength he had.
It hit its head with so much force that its head went into its body. He thought he had killed it with just that one strike, but it was no conventional enemy. It still moved around with its head and neck nowhere to be seen, still producing the screeching sound inside of its chest, its hands now thrashing everywhere.
He wasted no time as he easily avoided them and with no mercy struck it repeatedly. After the fifth hit, it was lying on the ground unrecognizable. Nolamine was breathing heavily. It was like he had just been in an intense battle.
He had let all his rage and anger go in those attacks, no one knowing that he was picturing Son-join as he beat the hell out of the curse. It never had a chance.
It moved and he did not waste any time turning it back into goo again as he pummeled it repeatedly, breathing heavily after he was done.
It turned into black smoke and disappeared into the wind. Seeing that, he fell down, victorious, like he had just won a war. He never wanted to think of such curses being cast on him ever again.
Seeing this, some of the villages wanted to boo. After seeing such a curse manifestation, that looked weird and menacing, they thought they were in for a treat. But, all they got was a one-sided beating with some feeling sorry for the ugliest thing they had seen in their lives.
All the others six, including Sazi and Nala turned to look at Mi-sun. She felt like she wanted to get as far away as she could from them. Even though the Grand Witch knew that he had not been practicing for all the time he was away, she did not know he was that bad.
Like a ninja, she shadow stepped into the crowd, disappearing and not wanting to be questioned.
Nolamine had beat his curse manifestation in a flawless victory full of flaws. There was no technique involved in his attack whatsoever. All he was depending on was the power and speed he had and intuition gained from fighting bullies over the years.
Fifth helped him up.
"That was something. I have to hand you that."
He said, amused at his fight. Nolamine was still huffing and puffing. His hands were sore. Even though it seemed like what he was fighting was weak, it wasn't. His hands were shaking.
"That thing was stronger than you. I thought I would need to step in at some point, but you proved me wrong. I guess that the hate of the person who cursed you was more powerful than his curses combined."
He said, and he genuinely meant it. That is why he was standing not that far away from him.
He did not know that Nolamine was fueled by a teenager's anger for someone he liked at first sight finding out that he had been cursed to have decedents with what no one wished upon anyone, that anger increasing his power and resolve. Even after having exorcised it, he did not want to look over at Nala.
He had done well to exorcise his curse without suffering any damage, but the Grand Witch wanted to see the peak of his strength.
"Nala, go remind him what he was capable of when he was younger."
The Grand Witch said. And as soon as she said that, the crowd went wild. Unlike the others, they had never seen her and Fourth train and had seen her fight only once.
Drams sounded out, as for them, it was a momentous occasion. Only Nolamine was not happy about that one bit.
He was still tired from going above and beyond in what he thought was a perfect showing of what he could do. After hearing the Grand Witch call upon Nala, he was surprised to see the others looking disappointed in him. This even included First, who concentrated on power.
He was in the middle of a circle, encircled by the villagers that were watching him. On a small hill above him was where the hut of the Grand Witch was, looking over the village.
He watched as Nala walked down. Looking at her, she was not her all-cute and giggling self anymore. She had turned into someone else after being issued a command by someone who she wished to be acknowledged by.
Any instructions coming from her, she took it as a test.
Fifth just taped Nolamine on his shoulder as he left.
"Good luck, I have done my part. I hope you survive, kid."
He said, to Nolamine's dismay.
The branch he had used to fight his Curse Manifestation crumbled and disappeared.
