When Sybil woke up in the morning, she felt like a horse had trampled her. Her muscles were tight and her head throbbed. Even her burn felt painful and itchy.
This certainly wasn’t the start she had been hoping for.
Lily hovered a bit when she came to get Sybil ready for the day, and she treated her as if she were a delicate piece of glass that could break at any moment. Sybil couldn’t wait to get away from the pity because she hated it.
For once, Sybil was grateful to have Lady Mim’s lessons to distract her during the day. When Sybil walked in the room, Lady Mim’s eyes immediately went to Sybil’s bandaged forearm, but she didn’t mention or ask about it. Sybil assumed that she probably heard the gossip of what happened to her, and what happened to Lydia as a result.
She was glad to not have to talk about it further as it was still a sore subject. She sat down and did her best to give Lady Mim all of her attention.
