Caspian took a deep breath in and calmed himself down before he gently knocked on his wife’s bedchamber.
He was afraid that he wouldn’t get any response at all since it was already way past the Queen’s usual bedtime. Or even if he got the response, he was afraid that his wife would not even look at him and go right back to sleep.
‘I’m sorry that I am late… No… Say, I would like to apologize for being late. I had a lot of work today.’ He was practicing the things that he could say to his wife in case she opened the door and turned right away from him.
However, to his surprise, not only did he get permission to enter the room, but he could also see that his wife was dressed in a lovely bedgown.
“You’re late,” Anastasia said in a sleepy whisper while leaning her body against the heavy door and resting her head against it.
Caspian instantly smiled upon seeing his wife’s eyes which were barely open. “It looks like I woke you up from your deep sleep,” he mumbled.
