"Your answer is a fucking arrow?", Rogan said, letting out a curse as he saw a violet haired boy continue to condense a mana arrow, ignoring his presence.
"Shut it, Rogan. You saw how Phoenix brought that bow out of nothing, didn't you?", The aged man next to Colonel Valestein retorted hearing Rogan say that.
"Screw that, there's no way a weapon like this can cause a major blow to the enemy line!", Rogan yelled out, obviously disappointed as he watched on.
The moment Rogan said that, Talion squinted his eyes a bit, shifting his focus to him.
"How about we place a bet then, Rogan?", Talion suggested, which caused Iseria's eyes to sparkle.
"Oooh! I second that. How much are we talking here?", Iseria happily responded as she clapped her hands.
After Talion and Iseria responded to Rogan, Marty ended up shaking his head.
"Are you guys really trying to place a bet here in the middle of a battlefield?", Marty retorted them, letting out a sigh.
"I'll put ten thousand mira on Phoenix.", Fie suddenly said, which caused Marty to give Fie a deadpanned look. In response, Iseria let out another giggle.
"Hehe, so even Sylphid wants in, eh?", Iseria said as she glanced at the silver haired girl.
"Well, to be honest, I am quite curious to see how powerful this attack will be. Phoenix is already releasing quite an aura.", Sara uttered, seeing me continue to condense a mana arrow that slowly grew in size. As for its color, it was condensing into an icy blue arrow. But on the inside, it was fiery red.
After Sara said that, Talion nodded his head as he too was curious. He then shifted his eyes back toward Rogan.
"How about fifteen thousand mira and a week's worth of Northern Borsch?", Talion suggested to Rogan.
"Seriously?", Marty retorted Talion but he ignored Marty.
"You're on. Twenty-five thousand mira between Talion and Sylphid? Hmph, all I see are two wusses. I'll double you guys down and put up fifty-thousand and make it so you guys can never eat another bowl of Northern Borsch again.", Rogan said, putting up his own bet.
"You're so on.", Iseria responded to Rogan, clapping her hands happily.
"You do know this is my mira you're betting on, right, Iseria?", Talion retorted.
"Hey I ain't complaining anymore since it's involving Northern Borsch now. You better beat Rogan's ass. Got that, Phoenix?", Marty suddenly exclaimed. Hearing that my eyes squinted but I continued my focus to not let my mana go astray.
"Haha, I'll see what I can do.", I simply responded, keeping my focus on Verbrannteis, along with what was going on in the forest. As much as I enjoy the bickering of the Northern Jaegers happening right now, I kept my concentration there. Emma continued to concentrate providing her mana as well. Claire just stood there, calmly observing us after her momentary stupor.
As for the old man beside Colonel Valestein watched, a hint of worry appeared in his eyes as he looked at Colonel Valestein.
"Is it fine for them to behave like this, Colonel?", The old man asked.
"Hoho, let them have their fun, Captain Clark. Red Constellation seems to be on the defense since they haven't made an approach yet. We'll strike the moment it's clear after Phoenix's attack.", Colonel Valestein responded.
"Understood. Our squads are ready.", The old man called Clark acnkowledged causing Colonel Valestein to nod his head while Rogan just continued to watch with a hint of scorn in his eyes.
In his mind, they were the prideful Northern Jaegers, so why did they need backup when someone was trying to invade their home? They were their country's heroes. However, he could not take any personal action, considering one of their leaders was right beside him. Despite having thoughts of taking things into his own hands, he still knew they were on the battlefield. Rogan could only watch on in contempt during this moment.
Rogan couldn't care less about the bet he just made with his fellow Captain Talion.
Thinking that, another couple minutes soon passed, and the mana arrow successfully formed in my bow. Letting Emma know it was done, she stopped and watched the arrow with a great look of interest. I didn't even say anything before releasing my hand.
Not a single bit of noise struck our ears the moment I let the arrow go. In but a mere moment, it started to streak across the rocky terrain, leaving behind a burnt trail that seemed cold to the touch, all with everyone's silence as they watched the attack...
Meanwhile, as the arrow made its way toward a sole figure who had his axe brandished in front of him letting out a crazy battle aura and was ready to strike back the moment the arrow came into contact...
Back at the capital of North Ambria.
Haliask, the Capital of North Ambria.
As the attack from Nidhoggr and the Red Constellation was being done in the shadows, many figures laid in wait surrounding Haliask's perimeter. This included a few squads left by Colonel Valestein, along with most of Zephyr. The Jaeger King could currently be seen next to a few Captains, waiting to give a signal to attack the approaching Nidhoggr.
As the Jaeger King waited to launch his attack, behind them stood a very large building that towered over the houses that rested in the capital, to which most of its citizens were resting as it was well into the night.
This towering building was the State Government Legislative Palace. It was where North Ambria's government took form after it fell as a principality during the Salt Pale tragedy. If Calvard was a Republic, then it wouldn't be hard to say that North Ambria was a Democracy. It was run by many government officials who resided in this Palace.
However, since it was well into the night, most of its officials have gone home for the day. Despite that, one of its rooms could still be seen lit up further inside.
That was because this was not only home to the government but also the Northern Jaegers. Unlike other countries, what made North Ambria unique was that the government and Jaegers worked side by side to solve their issues.
Since the Northern Jaegers were currently in operation, most have departed from their main base, but in this particular room, one Northern Jaeger could be seen sitting on a couch-like chair. This figure's eyes could currently be seen looking at what to be several holographic panels currently floating above them with several images displayed of the ongoing battling between the four Jaeger groups.
On one particular screen stood a violet haired boy and a plum haired girl. The boy had just launched an attack on one of the Commanders of their enemy, so this figure watched on with interest.
This figure was dressed similarly to Colonel Valestein, and was a Vice-Commander of the Northern Jaegers just one rank beneath him. And yet, this figure was quite different in appearance, as she was a woman with long white silky hair with violet accents, and seemed to be in her late 20s or early 30s.
As this woman continued her observation of the battle, a figure soon approached her from the long table. A laugh escaped from his mouth seeing the many screens in use before him.
"Haha. it seems you have already put the archaisms I gave you into use, Your Highness.", The figure said, revealing to be a green haired boy with a certain tattoo underneath one of his eyes who hasn't seemed to age a day since he was seen last.
However, the moment this boy uttered the words "Your Highness", to the woman, the woman's eyes dilated before an annoyed look appeared in them as she saw the boy arrive in the room she was using.
"Oh, so you're here, Fool. How many times do I have to tell you that I am no longer like my idiotic brother of mine? Thanks to the control device you gave me, I could shoot down right here and now.", The woman said, only to activate a device of sorts in her hand, causing several metallic objects to shift around the ceiling, and took aim.
"Oh I wouldn't do that if I were you. I could always find another replacement to supply our archaisms to. And besides, this place is standing on its last legs.", The boy answered, only to shrug his shoulders a bit.
"Well, I hate to agree but it is quite true to say our country is on the verge of collapse.", The woman responded to him.
"And yet you were the one to have your brother cause all of this, didn't you? I swear the Balmund Family has loose screws in their head.", The boy said. And yet the woman revealed a smile listening to him.
"Oh right. You go by Jayna Storm now, don't you? I still can't believe this is the first time to meet in person like this.", The boy asked.
"Did you come here just to bug me with an introduction? I am quite busy currently being entertained you see.", The woman called Jayna asked.
"Are you now? It is interesting to see how this battle will fair but I for one don't care about personal grudges. I am here to see if you will accept the proposal to become His Highness's advisor.", The boy asked.
"So it's regarding that. You do know I would have to betray the Northern Jaegers to do that, right, Fool?", Jayna asked as she glanced back over to the violet haired boy.
"Haha, but isn't that what you're doing right now, Jayna?", The boy asked.
"Oh this? It's just to alleviate my boredom. Do tell what are the benefits of doing this if I were to agree?", Jayna asked.
"His Highness has a rather lofty goal in mind, to which currently aligns with the Grandmaster's plans. It's far better than rotting your eyes away in a dying land, no?", The boy asked Jayna
"That is true.", Jayna said as she nodded her head.
"But before you decide, I decided to bring a little someone so hopefully you'll make the right decision, Your Highness.", The boy said as a serious look appeared in his eyes.
"Oh?", Jayna asked. Seeing his serious look, Jayna didn't retort him this time.
Shee only saw the boy turn around , which only made her eyes raise up in surprise seeing the boy move one of his arms over his chest to give a bow.
"You can come in now, Lady KeA.", The boy issued.
After the boy said that, a brief moment of silence swept the room before Jayna heard a childlike-voice reach her ears.
"...Yes.", The voice said. Before long, Jayna's eyes became bewildered seeing a green haired girl approach her. And yet and unwavering will could be seen in the girl's eyes, who seemed to be no older than eight or ten years old.
"This child...", Jayna began to utter as she started to observe the girl, but was at a loss for words.
"She is Lady KeA. It has not been long since she had awoken, but it was surprising she was the first one to reach out to us.", The boy said, giving a brief introduction.
"Yes. I am afraid I am unable to do much for him right now. It is not the destined time for us to meet. So I have to resort to move in the shadows and reach out to people like you, Miss Jayna.", The girl called Lady KeA answered.
"So I won't be the only one? Just what is this plan exactly?", Jayna decided to ask.
"We can only say it after you join.", The boy answered.
"I see. So you're leaving me in the dark without much to work with. If that's the case, my answer is...", Jayna began to say.
"
Jayna being part of the Balmund Family is not canon.
