Lu Cheng sat in his private office, the one perched at the top of Spring Entertainment's towering skyscraper. The expansive windows showcased the city skyline, but his eyes were focused on the sleek glass desk in front of him. His jaw clenched in irritation as he scrolled through the reports his assistant, Zhang Wei, had neatly prepared.
But Lu's focus was shattered by a low, amused chuckle from across the room.
"Honestly, gege, you need to lighten up," said a voice that mirrored his own, but carried a dangerous edge to it.
Lu Cheng's twin brother, Lu Feng, leaned casually against the doorway, arms crossed and a wicked grin plastered on his face. He radiated an effortless charm that made people nervous, dangerously handsome with sharp, piercing eyes and a smirk that could melt or break hearts at will.
Lu Cheng, in contrast, was the epitome of control and precision, still undeniably handsome, but his features were less predatory and more refined. Where Lu Feng's hair was always slightly tousled, like he'd just walked off a runway, Lu Cheng's was impeccably styled. Every detail of his appearance spoke of discipline, from his tailored suit to the watch that gleamed on his wrist.
"I was wondering how long it would take you to show up," Lu Cheng muttered, his eyes narrowing.
Lu Feng pushed off the doorframe and sauntered over to his brother's desk.
"Ivy is an interesting one, isn't she? Bright, feisty… completely fooled by me." He chuckled darkly, slipping into the chair opposite Lu.
"What are you talking about?" Lu Cheng said quietly.
Leaning forward, Lu Feng's grin grew wider, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "That interview of hers? The one she's convinced she had with the CEO?" He paused for dramatic effect, watching as his brother's expression hardened. "That was me."
Lu Cheng's fists tightened. "You what?"
"Don't act so surprised, gege." Lu Feng's tone was mockingly innocent.
"I've been stepping in for you for years. You're always so busy running this empire, sometimes people can't even tell the difference between us."
"Ivy's job interview was not your place to interfere!" Lu Cheng's voice dropped dangerously low, but it only seemed to amuse his twin further.
"You're right, it wasn't," Lu Feng replied, unbothered.
"But it was fun. You should've seen her, so nervous, trying to figure me out." He tilted his head back, laughing. "She has no idea what she's in for, thinking I'm you."
Lu Cheng stood up sharply, his tall frame towering over the desk. "Feng, this is my company. My rules. And Ivy is my responsibility. What the hell were you trying to prove?"
Lu Feng's eyes darkened, his playful smirk vanishing for a moment.
"What, you think you're the only one allowed to play CEO? We share the same face, the same charm. Don't pretend like you didn't need the break."
Lu Cheng's eyes blazed with fury. His twin always had a knack for stirring chaos, for testing boundaries that Lu Cheng had carefully built.
"You think this is a joke?" Lu Cheng hissed. "You're playing with people's lives, Feng."
"Relax, brother. Ivy will be fine," Lu Feng said, shrugging off the warning.
"If anything, she'll be lucky she had to deal with me instead of you. You're too stiff, too serious." His eyes sparkled with something sinister as he added, "I make things interesting."
Lu Cheng paced to the window, his back rigid. The tension in the room was suffocating. "Stay away from her," he said quietly, but the menace in his voice was clear.
"I won't let you turn this into one of your games."
Lu Feng chuckled again, standing and smoothing out his jacket. "We'll see about that, gege. You can't control everything. Sooner or later, people are going to see just how much you and I are alike."
Before Lu Cheng could respond, his twin strolled out of the office, leaving behind a trail of unsettling amusement. Lu Cheng stared after him, his hands gripping the edge of the desk, his mind racing.
The thought of Ivy being caught in the middle of one of Lu Feng's dangerous whims infuriated him. He couldn't afford distractions, least of all his twin's recklessness.
But Lu Cheng knew this was just the beginning. His brother always had a way of complicating things, and now Ivy, the new assistant, was at the center of it.
Whatever game Lu Feng was playing, it wouldn't end well for anyone.
Not this time.
