As Shawn looked at Givahk his eyes lit up happy to at least have some type of guide.
"Hi, my name is Shawn, I guess I'm in charge now." (Shawn)
All Givahk did was nod his head and stare blankly at Shawn. Shawn did not know much of anything about this world so he did not know if he had offended Givahk.
"I hope we can get along well?" (Shawn)
Shawn had held his fist out to shake Givahk's hand in greeting. As this was the way he would greet an elder. However, Givahk just took one glance at the hand and then slowly started walking around Shawn looking at him up and down. This made Shawn a bit uncomfortable and he just followed the elder around with his eyes. After Givahk circled him once he stopped and faced Shawn again.
" So young one, what should we do now?" (Givahk)
Shawn looked at Givahk and was confused for a second. He knew he had to come up with a location to call their home, but he didn't know where to start. Hell, he didn't even know what kobolds needed when it came to a home. As he was thinking he looked around the kobolds and had quickly come to terms that he had been thrown into this world with no info. He didn't know what would happen if he admitted that to Givahk. Shawn was worried he could be seen as weak or something like that. But he couldn't just pick a direction and start bringing them. He had no idea where he was or how long they would go in that direction.
And since he wasn't sure if he could die or not he didn't want to take that chance.
"Can you tell me if there are any safe places to set up a home?"(Shawn)
There was no change in Givahk's facial expression.
"How long do you want this home to last?"(Givahk)
Shawn looked at Givahk confused. Shawn did not know the answer to that question. If Shawn wasn't putting all his attention on the Question he would see the uneasiness taking hold in many of the adults. One was the uncertainty in Shawn's voice and obvious inexperience. Two was that unknown to Shawn he looked like a teenager in the Kobolds eyes. So that added to his perceived inexperience.
"Uhh, I'm not sure. How long do homes last here?" (Shawn)
"Not long if you do not have strength." (Givahk)
Givahk continued looking at Shawn studying him. Seeing if he was even worth letting live after this conversation ended. Though Shawn just thought that this was like an interview-type thing. He had no clue that his life was in danger. He would probably be stunned stiff if he knew. Second-guessing everything he would say. But fortunately for Shawn, he had no clue of knowing, his calm making him seem at least a little more capable to Givahk.
"Ok, is the strength of the tribe good?" (Shawn)
" Haha, the tribe has about 18 warriors which is every adult in the tribe. The rest are only children. So to answer your question our tribe is very weak." (Givahk)
The adults, which were all the warriors, smiled self-deprecatingly at themselves. While the teenagers who were close to becoming adults looked angered at being called children. But they knew better than to interrupt Givahk.
"Oh okay, How do you gain strength here?" (Shawn)
Givahk looked straight into Shawn's eyes. Making Shawn feel like his soul was being stared at.
"Through Killing." (Givahk)
This made Shawn want to step back, but something was telling Shawn not to. So he stood his ground and looked at Givahk. Givahk looked at Shawn and nodded his head in approval
"And through crafting, but we barely scrape by, we can't even learn a craft."(Givahk).
Givahk looked down and was saddened at the state of his tribe. But there was still strength there based on his hope for the future. Which he had not yet decided if Shawn was a part of that.
"As you can see we are a struggling tribe who doesn't have much to their names." (Givahk)
Shawn looked around and could see on the warriors' faces that they were all looking not at each other or Givahk their elder, but towards the children. This confused Shawn because he couldn't understand why they were doing that so he just looked at Givahk.
" Okay are there any hunting grounds around or anything so we can get our strength up and we can get some food for everyone." (Shawn)
"There is a goblin village. It is not far from us."(Givahk)
"Oh, are those goblins little green things by any chance?"(Shawn)
"They are the same size as us, but yes they are green."(Givahk)
Shawn was freaked out about hunting humanoid things. He had never killed anything bigger than a spider in his life. He wasn't sure if he could do it, but if this is how it's done in this world he figured he had to get used to it.
"Then let's get going."(Shawn)
Shawn then looked around and wondered what direction the goblin village is in. Since he was no longer looking at Givahk he didn't notice the malice that flashed in his eyes. Then when they returned to normal and started walking in the direction of the goblin tribe. Not even bothering to talk to Shawn at all. Shawn has yet to gain the respect of Givahk.
Since Givahk did not respect Shawn then the warriors did not either. The children were looking to Shawn but were pulled away by their parents or guardians. Shawn Just followed along at the end of the group. Looking around at everything. Soon that got boring because it was all just more of the same thing to Shawn. So he looked ahead for someone to talk to.
As he jogged up a little to meet the person. Shawn found it hard to tell if it was a man or a woman. He looked at him/her and saw them focusing on something. Shawn was curious as to what but felt awkward interrupting so he went more in the middle of the tribe to see if he can talk to someone there.
