We carried on! As we had been doing this whole year. We were so determined to get to Hamburg.
As we walked beside the ruins, we stumbled across a guy with a working car. We asked him if he could give us a ride to Hamburg. He went on...
- Yeah but that'll cost you, he said in german.
- German! I think this is your cue to stardoooooom! Talk with him, will ya?
- Alright, alright! Heinrich said.
- How much? Said Heinrich in german.
- Eight euros!
- Sure! Heinrich said as he handed the man the money.
We got a ride towards Hamburg. It took 3 hours and 8 minutes.
Lucky us to have stumbled across a big car with enough space to fit all of us in.
Otherwise we would have to desert Movitz or Paweł or anyone in our group for that matter but not me though, I am too important in this story ;)
We all slept as the driver drove us to Hamburg. We slept in a total of two hours and the one hour left we simply just planned on how we would make it in Hamburg. Heinrich suggested that we settled down in an restaurant or in a big house. I agreed and the others... well they nodded at least. That's simply a yes in my book.
The driver was almost going to sleep, if I hadn't stopped him from proceeding. He got a little angry, I'll admit but otherwise we would've crashed. I for one spared our lives from facing demise.
We got dropped off at a forest nearby. The driver bid us goodbye and drove off.
- So... what now guys? Zam said.
- What now you ask? Well... firstly we need to find these buildings.
- Aaaaaah! I need some rest! Movitz said.
I forgot to say... Movitz didn't sleep...
- Get some sleep then, you dullard! Zam said.
- Jaja! Movitz said.
We made a camping spot and made some tents. I prepared a cooking pot where we could cook some meat or water for that matter later on.
Night was beginning to fall again. The night I'll never ever forget!
As Movitz, Ash, Paweł and Zam were tucking themselves comfortably in their own sleeping bags, me and Heinrich were on the lookout looking for some trouble to spill.
Trouble there were. There was a stalemate at the frontline! We rushed towards it and saw ourselves dead within seconds but that never happened. We survived. Then we heard a loud scream. Movitz got attacked again! This time the scream was high pitched and made us jump. We rushed towards his screams and found him laying there in his tent with a bite mark on his neck and a big and long claw mark on his belly area, which we noticed judging by the sokaed blood surrounding the belly area as well as the big claw.
What seemed to be a bite mark from an unidentified creature caught our attention more than the big claw mark. We were expecting his death in a few days but we still held onto his dear life and bandaged him up. He screamed and screamed... it was like he was born or raised to do so. It was the only thing I ever heard. No small talk, nope! Just screams!
He slept like a log throughout the night. I didn't sleep at all though. I wrote and reflected upon our journey in my journal instead of doing just that.
But at an abrupt end, he turned on us and was about to bite Heinrich and gnaw at his flesh, if it hadn't been for Paweł rescuing him in time.
We lost a good friend that night. We had to put a bullet in his skull otherwise he would've killed us all! We didn't want that of course!
I have been through so much, I can't recollect my thoughts very well. They are going around my brain like FLIES. Yes you hear that very often but it is a good comparison.
It's not fun anymore. It's all blurry. Blurry as fuck and miserable as fuck. I have started questioning my sanity. Am I insane, when will it end? And will I be the last one to survive? As all of these thoughts unraveled me, I got "woken" up from them by Heinrich.
- Ich weiß. It's been hard on us all. We did what we had to do otherwise it would be our demise. We don't want to go out that way, now do we, Viking?
- Nah. You're totally right, Heinrich. Let's move! Pack the essentials!
- Aight'! Captain! Said Zam.
As always, we moved onwards. No one said a word about Movitz death. It took a huge toll on us. It was like a sorrow bomb thrown at us. We sauntered towards Hamburg.
- These damn restless legs! Said Zam.
- Don't worry, it's only a mile left, I said.
- You can say that again, I don't care!
- Don't be so lippy! For once in your life, shut up, said Heinrich.
- Calm down, boys. I think Paweł spotted something ahead of us. Let's follow his lead, I said.
- What do you perceive, Paweł? I also said.
- Well, it's going to be hard coming through this time. There's a large horde incoming. They must've seen us earlier.
- Ja... Let's just run away... Heinrich said.
- No! We strike, we aren't weaklings. We have shown who's boss before!
- Yeaaah!
- Chaaaaaaarge! We screamed.
As we screamed, we charged with our weapons.
Heinrich charged with his K98 bayonet, Paweł with his Gerlach RGM, Zam with his Golden Eagle, Ash with his katana and me with my hammer-like axe.
We sliced them in half and overthrew them like always. Heinrich got injured though. It was a minor bite, which could actually mean turning or death.
Heinrich would make it throughout our journey but he wasn't the same. He got a bit crazy on our journey. He mumbled incoherent words that was probably gibberish. Zam got worried and seeked medical attention from a doctor we found. Yes, we went to the hospital. Luckily, as I said before, we found a doctor that could treat his wounds. The doctor seemed off, he was a bit old and his hair was... eeeh... thin and ragged. He could barely breathe either, well so it seemed. You could actually hear him taking enormous deep breaths aside his treatment of the current matter. I got a tad bit worried and irritated. His breath stank too!
How long was this going to take? An hour? A day? I don't know.
We got the results and it wasn't unexpected, in fact he was infected and it didn't go undetected by the others.
We weren't prepared to lose another man. We couldn't take anymore loses so we let him stay and we also stayed over night.
Oh how we prayed. Luckily he survived with this minor injury.
As Heinrich lied in bed, he told us german war stories. Stories about the crusaders he had heard and stories about the nazis he had heard.
He surely had lost his mind now. He was speaking in tongues, his words didn't work as planned and him repeating to no avail. I took a syringe and put his ass to sleep! The syringe was filled with anesthesia and I also put a patch on his arm for it to not bleed over.
The doctor returned and checked on him. The doctor told us that his blood is pumping well and that he is in good shape.
I cheered as I heard this. It was a miracle... well... no not really... rather an expected thing to happened.
Zam thought it was misfortunate. I shut him up real good with a slap across the face! How could he say that? Was he mad or something?
We remained here in his room til' nightfall and when nightfall fell, Zam was on the lookout for mortems.
The rest of us slept like princes, especially Heinrich.
Heinrich sadly woke us up with a high pitched and serious scream, it made our ears bleed like hell. It wasn't pleasant to calm him down, it was like giving a pacifier to a baby without the baby giving in exactly.
We gave him another teenzy bit of anesthesia. Not too much!
