Chapter 20 - 20 13th Striker

The alarms rang. One of the AIs reported a disturbance in the plotline that should have appeared only in many weeks from now on. After it was clarified, the plot was starting 92 days earlier than estimated. The main AI seldomly made mistakes. A deviation from one to three days was within the range of its mathematical powers. Anything else was unnatural. A bug had created itself. Although they didn't appear often, they could cause quite a disturbance if they occurred.

"Send the highest ranking striker available right now!" One one of the developers commanded and a strategic force was sent to employ one of the strikers. A bug could be erased outside the game, - which often was already proven to be very difficult, - or directly from inside of the game. The striker unit was a combat team that would be employed in the game on special occasions.

On this day, the upper ten weren't available and 11 was already employed elsewhere. Number 12 was on holiday. Number 13, which was on standby, was immediately escorted to the capsule main room while an assistant explained the situation.

"You have to destroy anything closely related to the mission to make the erasure a success." The older man explained and continued to follow the striker.

"I know. Which region will it be?"

"The Remian Kingdom, located in the center region in a city named Daystreak."

"Are there any variables or parameters I have to consider?" 13 wanted to know.

"None."

"Good. Ready my pod. As soon as I reach the capsule room I will enter Falan."

"Yes, it is already prepared."

"Well done." 13 said and smiled. His teeth shone against his dark skin, a deep tone of brown. He was young, looking like something between twenty and twenty-five. Although he had the dark skin from his mother, he had the sharp asiatic eyes from his father. His hair was silky black and he had eyes in a slightly lighter shade of chocolate brown.

Since he was free to adopt several years ago, he was taken and trained to work as a striker. His performance exceeded many of his peers and he climbed the ranks like crazy. The privileges of the high ranking strikers were nothing to scoff at and even at 'work' they could enjoy playing as long as they did what they were told when their shift began and did the issued missions.

The doors in front of 13 opened and he stepped in, walked straight to his pod, laid down and closed the lid. Colors rushed into his view, faster and faster until he felt himself connect to the usual feeling of his virtual body. He moved his armor and checked his status briefly.

Just half a minute later he flew through the teleportation point of his guild and reached Remian's capital instantly. The way was already laid out and the people made way for him. He entered the portal leading to Daystreak only two minutes later. Stepping away from the portal, 13 opened his wings and with two mighty strokes, his wings propelled him into the skies above Daystreak. From the city under him he could make out the affected zones immediately and rushed forward to destroy the bug. If needed, he would wipe out this entire city without a single second of hesitation.
