At some point, Cali felt deep pain when she saw Emma on the verge of tears; but her thought was blowing away by the defying look in the girl's eyes. Cali smiled to herself, she didn't have to feel guilty because in front of her was a tough, tenacious and formidable opponent, definitely not a crybaby
"If he really is your boyfriend then prove it…kiss him!"
"Emma!!" Klan was outraged, he couldn't believe his ears. His voice was ice cold when he called out Emma's name. Even for him, it was too much, Emma had definitely crossed the line.
"What? you don't want to kiss your fiancée!". Emma sneers, now certain that this so-called relationship was just bullshit.
"Ah… ". Cali sighs heavily, then raises her left ring finger to highlight a ring, the same kind that spouses-to-be exchange in wealthy families, and simultaneously says, ironically "Why is that that's the real girlfriend who should prove her identity to the third wheel!"
With this ring, Cali had proven enough, her rightful position in this (fake) relationship.
Emma turned white from the shock, then, turned red from anger. Cali put her hands on her hips in a power posture, she held Emma's angry gaze and gave her the knockout blow:
"Go away asap...", she snaps her fingers "...before I make you chop down your pathetic stalker's hair, so that the whole world would know how shameless you are."
Truthfully, physically speaking, Cali was a little smaller than the average and looked like she could break in the slightest gust of wind as she looked thin; Emma had a much bigger and stronger build since she was older and had a job where you had to be physically fit, so she could have thrown Cali through the air without much effort. But no physical strength could overcome Cali's brown irises, filled with pride, confidence and determination.
Emma, intimidated by this fiery-looking opponent, throws herself into her car, starts under the wheel caps, and disappears like a hurricane.
"Phew!!" Klan heaves a great sigh of relief, reminding Cali of his presence.
She raises an eyebrow as she turns to look at him and, as if he knew what she was thinking at that very moment, Klan justified himself:
"Don't go thinking that I was hiding behind you…" he innocently shrugged, "I stood there just in case it got out of hand and you got pushed again because knowing you, you wield the art of throwing sharp words but not throwing fists..." _Cali did indeed have a sharp tongue but when it came to physical confrontation, she was as strong as a leaf_ "At least I would have caught you before your ass touched the floor!" he added when mocking her.
Klan continues his monologue but, this time in a serious tone,
"That ring… it's the one Neil gave you before he left, right?", he looks at Cali's worried face,
"Don't worry…" he says, hugging her to comfort her "... I'm sure he's doing fine and this time, we will surely hear from him. we will give him the earful of his life for not having given us any news, even if he was locked up in a tower like Rapunzel, we will blame him for not having used his charms to seduce a some pigeon passing by, to send us a message..."
He glances again at her expression which had soften, then in a comical tone, "…I, anyway, will lecture him properly but you, like always, you're just going to cuddle him and tell him how much we missed him…"
This lame attempt by Klan to cheer up Cali had served its purpose; she was softly laughing at his ramblings. Now that she was in a good mood once again, she friendly pushed Klan away to break out from his embrace and said while still laughing:
"Don't touch me, you sex maniac".
