Alex wakes up in his overly comfy bed in his family's noble home.
Today is one very special day, today is his 16th birthday! That also means today is the very first day he gets to check his system menu to see what natural talents he has or what his affinity is destined to be.
He goes down the stairs to find his parents waiting in luxurious cushioned chairs. A few moments went by before his mother asked him what he wanted to eat for his birthday breakfast.
Alex responds quickly with "Im feeling like some Baked potatos mom, I really want baked potatoes today." His mother responds with "I'll have the chef make it for you."
"You know Alex, I'm eagerly awaiting to see your talents Alex, but it's tradition to wait until noon so I'll have to bear it."
His father greets him with a happy look and proudly said "Good morning my son, how did you sleep? I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't sleep at all and you stayed up all night with excitement."
Alex said back to his father, "I actually slept really well today, I woke up feeling well rested but overflowing with joy."
After an hour came and went, it was time for the family to enjoy breakfast together. They all sat on a long rectangle wooden table roughly one and a half meters long with him at one end and his parents at the other. On the table boasted a lavish feast including all of Alex's favorite food, even things he didn't ask for.
Alex blushes a bit and says "Mom? Dad? Don't you think this is a little too much?".
His father replied with "Nonsense, today is a day of celebration, and it certainly cannot start on an empty stomach." and with that they started eating.
Ideal chatter began when his mother said "What type of talents do you think you will get? I hope you get a blacksmith talent with a forge affinity like me and your grandfather had!"
Alex's father butted in the conversation with
"Oh honey you know the talents the system gives us is random, putting pressure on him won't do any good he needs to accept what he gets." After a brief pause he continues with
"Listen son you know our gold count, any talents you get even the mage one we can afford, so don't worry about disappointing us, we will love you no matter what." He smiles looking lovingly at his son.
A few hours later at lunch his mother and father invited all of their friends and extended family as well as all of Alex's friends. They all sat in a big common room of the manor and gathered around the table as they ate a feast fit for a whole castle, eagerly awaiting the main event of the evening.
Alex's father steps up to the center of the arena and taps his crystal glass of champagne, proudly announcing a toast to all of his guests and staff "You all know why you are here on this clear, beautiful night. To celebrate my son's 16th birthday and his promising talents to see what the great systems gods gifted my precious son, please, come on up Alex."
Alex stands and nervously walks to the center of the arena next to his father and his father whispers to him "Son, know that we do not care what you get, you will always be my son." Alex yells, "System window!" Everyone there was eagerly awaiting this moment and were on the edge of their seats.
Alex feels his heart sink, when he sees the system window for abilities, talents, and affinity is blank. He looks at his father nervously and whispers to him "Dad my ability window is… blank?" His father after hearing this starts to feel pain and sadness sweep over his body, in that instant he recovers and shouts to the people watching
"My son is destined to be a blacksmith like his mother!"
