'Umm... boy?'
There was a faint voice. One that I didn't recognise. I tried to wake up, however, I wasn't able to move.
'B-boy? It's morning. Please wake up.'
Ah, my limbs are loosening up now. I guess I had sleep paralysis because of my NEET life. Too many all-nighters. Wait, but didn't I die? I met that Zyn guy and he said that I'd be reincarnated into another world. Meaning that wherever I am now...
Finally, I was able to open my eyes. My vision was blurry in the beginning but cleared up after a few seconds. Beside me was a girl. Her hair was fair and her eyes were green. She looked like she was worried about something. The girl looks like she's around the age of an average high schooler.
Tch! My head's pounding. I wonder why...
'Ah, you're finally awake!'
The girl got in closer and took my hand off of my head. She put her hand on my forehead. After a few seconds, she reeled away and sighed in relief.
'Thank god. You're okay.'
I'm still confused about what happened to me. So, let's try and revise the steps from step 1. Firstly, it was a day in late May, and I was playing games. Then my sister and her husband visited. Afterwards, he gave me a job opportunity and I declined it. In turn, I told my sister to tell him about what I did for their wedding and then I died. Game over. Finally, I met a being similar to God and got reincarnated. What else can happen?
'W-where am I?'
I asked the girl. For some reason, her eyes were sparkling, as if she was looking at some sort of cute child. I got out of my bed and stretched my limbs. Eh, my body feels smaller for some reason. I guess maybe it's me or that god-like being changed my physical appearance.
Hm, I'm dressed. It's different from the tracksuit I was wearing before I died. They look more... How do I describe it? More like how would I describe it in a fantasy world... That's right! Commoner! I look more like a commoner or peasant.
'You're in a village. The village's name is Elice. But, who are you? You just fell from the sky. I found you, so I took you into the village.'
'How long have I been out for?'
'A day now.'
So that's why my head was hurting. The pain of me landing on the ground must've been transferred to now, I guess. I mean, sometimes you don't feel pain until you actually see it. So, if I've been unconscious for a day, that means she's been helping me for a day. I should probably thank her.
Turning around to her, I lowered my head and bowed, with my legs together and arms by my side.
'Thank you! Is there anything that I can do to help you?'
The girl panicked.
'N-no! I can't possibly take anything from a child.'
Ha? Wait, wait, wait, wait, hold up!
I raise my head and look at the girl. Now that I'm looking at it, I'm shorter than the girl. But that should be impossible. Even if that Zyn guy did lower my age, then I should be 15 or 16–that's if he took ten years off my life.
'Say, do you have a mirror?'
'Ummm... Yes, it's in the next room over. Just open the left door.'
'Thank you!'
I dashed out of the room and opened the door to the left, just like the girl said. It looked like somebody's bedroom but I didn't pay any attention to that, not right now. There was a hand-sized mirror on the drawer near the bed. I ran to it and picked it up. I directed the mirror at my face. I gave a nervous smile as I looked into the mirror.
Shit.
I look exactly like how I did when I was eight. This boy in this mirror is... me! That Zyn guy... I'll get him for this. I get that I'm cute and all, but I don't see how good that's going to be when fighting. Wait, fighting. Is there magic and the like in this world? If there are battles, I would be at a disadvantage. Sure my body is smaller, but my body wouldn't be able to fight because it's so inadept.
Putting the mirror down, I returned back to the other room.
'Are you alright?'
'Yeah, I'm fine. Ah, I didn't ask for your name, did I?'
It's best to instantly change the subject. Plus, I do need her name for future references. For now, if they allow me, I'll have to live in this village if I don't want to die. I mean, usually outside of villages are forests and inside those forests are wolves and the like.
'My name is Rina. What about yours?'
'It's–'
I paused. I didn't know what I should say. Should I leave my name and start a new life? Or continue to use my other name? Well... this is a new world.
'It's Altair. Altair Nox.'
'Altair... That's a tough name!'
'Tough? Wouldn't you say "cool?"'
Rina looked at me. She tilted her head and her face practically had clueless written all over it. I guess the customs are different in this world.
'Cool? Like ice?'
'Uh, yeah, I guess. You say it when something is... stylish, I guess? Maybe amazing is a better way to describe it.'
'Oh... Thank you, Altair!'
'N-no problem.'
Now, I want to see what life is like in the village. Maybe I should ask Rina about it.
'Hey, Rina.'
She turned to me after opening the curtains of the window.
'Is it possible that I can live in this village?'
'Of course! I mean, you don't have anywhere to go, do you? You're Zyn's child, after all.'
Zyn... That's a name I've heard before, but the term, "Zyn's child," is something unknown to me. But it definitely has to do with that god-like being. I won't ask for the details.
'Then, is it possible that I can get a tour of the village?'
'Sure! Come along!'
Now, let's see what the village will be like.
