Chapter 3 - Weird School

Hakuryuu Repulsor Academy. A school specialized in instructing capable people to become warriors who would fight against a phenomenon called Erosion. Those people were generally called Repulsors. From what I had known, my family was all once elite Repulsors.

The artifacts that my family left for me were used in countless battles. I didn't know what they had achieved or how they disappeared, but I knew my family inherited their will to me which was to become a Repulsor.

Because of that reason, I had been training in the art of sword combat for the past 13 years. I could say confidently that I had mastered every level that it had to offer. But knowledge was vast, so I would accept everything new with open arms.

Anyway, in terms of the artifacts, the two katanas were in good condition, but the clock was half-broken. My father said to wear it constantly, and the time would come. Though I questioned myself what that meant to this day, I had to honor his wish.

I wandered around the house with my katana, swinging and slashing the empty air. Before I knew it, noon came. I went outside for some fresh air.

The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze. The dappled sun shone through the leaves of trees, creating mysterious shadows.

One more night in this house before I had to leave, pursuing the path of danger. Why? The academy boasted a system of accommodations and recreational facilities for students to live on the campus.

For confidential reasons, the school had us living on the campus until graduation. That was why I had to prepare for tomorrow, the day I would settle into a new environment.

Initially, recruitment happened two years prior for us to have proper preparations, and those who were recruited went through many trials over the years to test their skills in combat and other talents. Through these stages, the final list of people was determined.

I heard that every nation had at least one primary school that specialized in training Repulsor-to-be. In Hakuryuu, the academy was located in Inazuma, which was one of the five major cities in our nation. I lived in Hinata, the 3rd region of Hakuryuu, north of Inazuma. Our city's duty was to protect the northern border that separated Hakuryuu and Noxio.

I followed the news a bit, so I knew that the tension between the two nations grew ever so slightly. Due to the opposing interests in handling Erosion, ideological conflicts arose.

I hadn't set foot in any area other than Hinata. I lived my whole 15 years here, so the possibility of moving permanently to Inazuma would slightly affect me.

My neighbors said they would take care of the house while I went away. I also requested Saki's parents to look after the house.

With that in mind, it put me somewhat at ease. I strolled around the neighborhood once more to embrace the feeling of homeliness. I could already feel the nostalgia coming from my memories.

The scenery was the same as I remembered. There wasn't anything special about the place, but the sentimental value made it so much more magnificent.

I walked around for another thirty minutes before returning home. I needed to pack the things that I wanted to bring. It was nice to have all the living expenses and essential needs covered by the school, but some items might not be available there.

I packed up some of my own clothes in case the school didn't have what I wanted. I put in some memorabilia as well to decorate my dorm and have something to reminisce about. Honestly, I could bring more but that would be inconvenient.

Surprisingly, personal phones and money weren't allowed in the proximity of the campus.

The situation of confidential information being in danger of leakage was undesirable, so the school decided to disconnect us from the outside world. It seemed to me that the board was undoubtedly strict about its regulations.

'What did I get myself into?'

Sometimes, I would wonder stupidly like that. I'd been accustomed to the peacefulness of the countryside. I woke up every day to meet the warm light of dawn. The cool breeze seeping into my silky blanket always made it hard for me to get out of bed.

I'd have breakfast alone and listen to some classical music. I first heard it back when I was a dimwitted baby and felt a connection right away like I had found my soulmate.

I walked outside every day without fail, and sometimes, I'd bump into Saki and walk with her. Things never did change here. It was a comfortable routine. A beautiful one.

This routine was about to be changed into a completely new look. It felt unbelievable to alter your life, but life has been like that. It was time to explore a new world, to expand my horizons, and to taste new experiences.
