Today is the day that the results are posted. Xia stands in the large crowd of cultivators. His eyes dart around the large wooden board everyone is crowding around. His eyes jumped from one name to another. His eyes stop as he arrives at a familiar name.
The cry of happiness of a woman reaches his ears. Xia could not help but smile as he continues to look for his name.
"Is no surprise Bai Wei pass"
The old ghost voice echoes in Xia's mind. He nods his head as he continues to look for his name. With each new name he reads, the worse his anxiety gets. Soon his eyes land on a name. One that he is very familiar with. The buildup anxiety of a whole month of waiting started to disappear.
"Congrats kiddo. Your plans can finally start now."
'Yes..yes it can'
Xia said to the old ghost. Cleaning his tearful eyes as he breathes out a sigh of relief. The overwhelming relief of being accepted into the Elemental Weapons Sect made his legs weak and shaky. He needs it to use his Qi to enchant his legs to stop himself from falling.
He breaks away from the group of cultivators. Leaving behind cultivators still searching for their names and those who did not see their names. He felt eyes of jealousy pierce the back of his head. But he ignored them, with each step he takes towards the sect campus gates, the less the jealousy daggers affect him.
The guards that guard the gate stop him.
"Name"
"jinshu Xia"
One of the guards looks at the book that was given to him. He stops at one of the pages and reads it. He looks at Xia just to make sure it's him as he speaks.
"You may enter, welcome to the sect."
"Thank you"
Xia said with a smile as he walks past the guards and enters the sect campus. The last time he was here was a month ago. Its magnificent sights did not change or got less amazing in this past month. He walks down the stone pathway that leads to the campus's main plaza.
But before he can get far a male voice enters his ears. He turns his head as he looks at the black mask figure. The figure is wearing a beautiful red dress with the figure of a demon stitched into it. In his left hand are two rings. From one of his ears hangs a beautifully crafted earring.
"Jinshu Xia, please follow me for a second."
"Yes senior Mors!"
Xia said as he bows down to the senior cultivator. Mors nodded as he started to walk towards the carriage storage of the sect campus. Not a single word was spoken between the two of them. As they arrive at the carriage storage, they walk towards a specific carriage. Waiting in front of this carriage is a middle-aged man.
Wearing a nice crafted red dress. With a similar motif to Mor's dress. The old voice of the master crafter echoes in Xia's mind.
"Ah he is wearing one of my failed experiments."
'Fail?'
"Yes- during our time, when we were fighting against the invading forces. I experimented a bit on the material left behind by some of the enemy forces. I try my best to make good armor while also removing its corrupted effect. The clothes that middle-aged guy is wearing is a failure in terms of their quality."
'I see- so was taking away the corrupting nature of such a material easy?'
Xia asks the ghost as he and Mors got inside the carriage, the middle-aged man closes the door behind them as he gets in the driver seat, and started to drive the carriage. Their destination is no other than the clan state, where Mors and Zhihui's home is.
"Yes and no. Depending on the rank and strength of the creature the difficulty of cleaning it of corruption increases or decreases. Mors' armor is crafted from a high-ranking Blood fiend. It took me a year to clean most of the materials of their corruption. Even then there is still some lingering corruption in it"
'But Mors does not seem to be affected by that corruption.'
"Probably because he is so strong."
Xia wanted to nod his head to agree with Kathako. But seeing as he was with a senior in the cultivator world and just randomly nodding might seem weird, he fought the urge to do so. The carriage ride was painfully quiet. Causing Xia's anxiety to resurface once again. He went over countless reasons as to why Mors took an interest in him. Each new scenario becomes worse and his anxiety worsens.
The carriage finally stops after 10 long agonizing silent minutes. Mors opens the carriage door as he and Xia step out. Mors started to walk towards his and Zhihui's house. Followed by Xia and Fen. Along the way, they pass by the share dining hall of the Wu clan.
The doors open as a trio of cultivators walk out. One male and two females. Mors cold eyes pierce the cultivator trio, sending shivers down their spines. But Xia recognizes one of these cultivators. He has never seen her personally, but he has seen her portraits.
With amber color hair and soft green eyes.
" Wu Hui!"
Xia said as he broke from the group and walks towards her. The female cultivator looks confused as Xia arrives in front of her.
"Excuse me, but do I know you?"
Xia face shatter when he heard those words.
"Yes, I am your fiancé. Jinshu Xia"
"fiancé?"
The male cultivator asks as he looks at Hui. The look on her face was one of surprise and disgust.
"Ex-fiancé. I can't believe you will come searching for me even after I told you the engagement is over."
"What?"
Xia could not believe what he just heard.
"Ha- someone screws you over kiddo. This same scenario is probably what that person wanted."
When the male cultivator heard what Hui said, he got defensive. Wrapping his arm around Hui shoulder.
"What a creep! Hey dude she is my lover now so screw off!"
Xia soon recovers from his disbelief as he smiles somewhat. It felt nice to hear from the source about why the latter stopped arriving.
"Why the hell are you smil-"
"Xia, snuff talking we got to go."
The cold voice of Mors broke the conversation. The trio shook in fear as they walk away as fast as they can. Xia on the other hand rushes back to follow Mors, as they continue their journey in silence.
