The Dwarf tribe of Erdeniin uul is one of the largest Dwarf tribes. This tribe has its own unique religion, but the influence of the Myetallshu religion can be felt in their culture. Erdeniin uul has four distinct schools of thought for their crafters.
The Gold Sickle is a school that focuses on making tools that improve the quality of life of people. As well as innovating those items. Since they have less territory than sects, they can't rely on spirit crystals to power up their technology. The Iron Hammer is a school that focuses on tools and machinery to change the nature around them.
The Copper Axe is the school that focuses on making weapons, armor, and tools for war. The last school is the Steel Gears, a school that focuses on preserving and maintaining the tribes technologies and machines. An arm of their religion, The Ancient Wisdom.
There is a reason why Zhihui sends him here, the Dwarfs have access to ancient technology. At least that is how the Elfs perceive it. This religion focuses on maintaining all forms of technologies, with ancient and complex rituals of faith and myth. The Dwarfs in this tribe must choose a school to continue their training and if they reach the title of Master crafter. They are rewarded with a last name, the one of their school.
The barrier wall started being built the moment the Dwarf settle in this mountain. A large complex ready to defend the settlement against the dangers of the inner caves. Their wall has three layers of metal gates, making it extremely hard for monsters to breach the gates.
The wall is full of holes, the barrel of cannons, guns, and the head of bolts peek out of these holes. A male Dwarf lights the fuse of his trusted cannon, covering his ears as the gunpowder explodes. A black solid mass of a cannonball, made of solid iron, goes flying at high speeds. Going through multiple formless and changing magma-like monsters.
They look like slimes, with a single black core inside of their formless body. Always moving around, the only way to kill this Artificial Spirit is by destroying its core. The monsters were about the size of a wooden cart, being of the warrior stage. While the ones the size of buildings were of the commander stage.
Thankfully most of the monsters were warrior stage, but not all of the Dwarf cultivators were at that stage. Most were only mortal stage. If not for the barrier wall, the settlement would have been lost from the very start. The Dwarf used three different types of weapons to attack the artificial spirits from the wall.
The most common and easy to use is crossbows with a small bit of gunpowder attach to their bolts. The second most common is the cannons, using gunpowder and iron balls, they can easily take out lots of enemies. The third most common is a rocket cart, armed with countless fireworks. The cart is made of metal and it's stuck in place.
It is a strategy placed within the many levels of the wall, only those who have received special training are allowed to man these weapons of mass destruction. Within the Dwarf military, only very few people wield rifles. They used a more advanced version of the rifles the outside sects are using.
This rifle version allows for faster reloading and has a bigger caliber for their ammo. The ammo they shoot is made of the very limited supply of spirit crystals the tribe has, with a combination of a stronger and more potent form of gunpowder. This gunpowder is called White Dust, made by grinning the bones of warrior stage and up living beings. Then mix it with gunpowder, place it all in a container, and put it under intensive pressure for ten years. But even then you can only get a handful of this thing.
Over the month that the Dwarf have been fighting these monsters, their reserves were slowly running out. At best they can survive another month, at worst, two more weeks. A female Dwarf gunner, sights as she shoots her shot. Felt the recoil spread across her body. The bullet is a .30 caliber, as the bullet connects with the body of one of the artificial spirits. It explodes, leaving behind a white cloud.
The explosion scorches the stone and digitigrades the Artificial Spirit core. But no matter how much she kills, more keep coming. But she did not shake in fear, for her family and friends depended on her. No one of the brave women and men that defend the settlement felt no fear. For when one fights to protect those behind them, they must not know fear.
"Just how many more are they!?"
One of the male Dwarf said as he shoots his crossbow bolt at one of the bigger monsters. Slowing it down, but not destroying its core. But before they knew it, countless yellow figures started to appear around the artificial spirits. Having the figure of a tall man wearing a mask and expensive-looking dress. Some arms with swords, spears, bows, or axes.
The yellow spirits started to attack the artificial spirits. The yellow spirit was faster than the warrior stage artificial spirits. With greater techniques and strength, the artificial spirits started to die one after the other. Whenever a yellow spirit disappears, it would reaper. Like nothing ever happens.
Soon the sound of gunfire and explosions dies down as the Dwarf look at what they are seeing with wide eyes. As Mors, looks through one of the many holes from the top level of the tower. Next to him were the Dwarf leader and the female guard. The two of them could not believe what they were seeing either.
As Mors without even sweating started to summon countless copies of itself. The copies easily take care of warrior stage artificial spirits. But could not do much to the commander stage spirits. As Mors looks at the Dwarf leader and spoke in a soft tone.
"I have cleared the cannon fodder, now it's your time to deal with the big guys"
"Ah…yes! Hear me man and woman of the Erdeniin uul tribe! Call forward the commander stage cultivators! Open the gates!"
As the Dwarf leader gave out his command, Mors could not help but click his tongue. For these artificial spirits did not give him any points. For they had no soul.
