Chapter 51 - The Truth

Soon night arrive and the group started to set up camp. Fen was setting up the tents, a total of three tents could be seen in the small clearing next to the dirt road that leads to the city of Hamju.

The biggest tent is made of luxury silk and a dark green color. Is in the center surrounded by the other two tents, smaller and with fewer luxuries. A small campfire is lightened up in front of the large tent.

Huan could be sitting on a small piece of wood, cooking soup in a metal put, that is resting on top of the fire. Supported by two metal spikes that dig into the soft brown dirt. Inside the pot are vegetables that come from the Huan storage ring.

Storage rings are expensive, but not hard to come by. Anyone of a strong enough stage can make a personal pocket space and enchanting that onto a small ring is easy, but resource-consuming.

As multiple spirit crystals and quality, fine steel ingots are needed for the ring. As the personal female servant of Zhihui, a young lady of a respectable clan and sect. Quality food needs it to keep up its appearance.

As such a ring with a personal space to keep vegetables, quality water, and meat are kept fresh. She also carries in her ring, a first aid kit, some healing artifacts, and gold coins for anything Zhihui wants to buy.

Inside the central tent, Zhihui is cultivating with her legs crossed. The ground is laid with a large red blanket, to keep Zhihui's feet clean of dirt. She is slowly breathing in and out, and wind currents gather around the back of her head.

Small particles of earth move from the soil, through the blanket, gathering in her abdomen. With the small water drops in the air, gathering in front of her chest. With no fire nearby, all these three elements started to enter her body.

She slowly cultivates these elements into her body, using her full concentration to gather them, and her eyes close to fully concentrate. But as she gathers the elements into her body, she could feel the sensation of someone looking at her. Just by sensing their gaze, she had an idea of who it was.

She continues to gather the elements, and she finds a good spot to stop, as she stops concentrating. The elements return to their normal form. She slowly opens her eyes as she sees a young man, with brown skin looking at her with his arms crossed.

She looks at Mors as she speaks.

"Good afternoon, Mors, I take it you are here to talk about something?"

"I don't think I need to say what I want to talk about, with the look you gave me on the carriage. I think it's pretty obvious."

He said as he walks towards her, sitting in front of her with his legs crossed. Resting his hands on the soft blanket that covers the ground as he lets her speak.

"Well, I in fact it did not lose my talents out of nowhere"

Mors looks at this, his eyes full of surprise. Like he has never expected this answer.

"Give me that look again, and I will kick you out"

"Sorry~"

"As you heard in the carriage, my cousin is the current heir of my clan. Our clan values your talent for controlling the elements. As someone with such talents, I was the natural next clan head. That is till I lost my talents, by poison my dear cousin kindly provided."

Mors nods his head, so far this sounded normal, well normal in terms what people fighting for power will do. Zhihui then continues to speak after giving Mors some time to process the information.

"This potion is strong but does not leave behind any remains when ingested for long periods of time. Then my dear cousin awakens her talents right as I lose mine, even though I don't know what she did to gain does talents."

"Interesting, well I will try to help you as much as I can. I don't have that much experience with politics."

"Neither do I, but I have watched my dear cousin enough to get an idea."

"Alright... so how can I get the approval of your two servants? While there might not be a time limit, I have a feeling that there is a time limit to finish the quest before failing"

"Um…well Fen is a bit of the religious guy. Very virtuous and follows The Draconic Lore to the word. So, I recommend reading on that and getting in his good graces. Huan, eh she is a special case. She basically grew up with me and sees me as a sister. A bit overprotected even if she is weaker than me"

"Ah….who knew that getting married will be so hard. Well, I will be going to my tent before I get skin alive by your maid"

"Just so you know I like my spouse to have skin"

"Wow, expecting a bit much are we?"

Mors said with a soft smile before leaving her tent, leaving her to continue with her meditation before dinner is ready.
