Chapter 7 - An Arrogant Wolf Part 1

Mors falls down and lays on his back as he catches his breath. He feels hot both from the battle and from the Elemental Monster Core he just ate. As he looks up at the blue sky he started to speak to himself.

"Man, I really need a storage ring. Fire Salamander materials could come in useful in the future."

He said to himself as he looks at the prize of a storage ring in the system store. When he saw how cheap it was, only costing 500 fate points. He could not help but jump with newfound energy and motivation. While the grand goal is getting immortality, having these small goals are good.

Soon another week pass by. Mors spend this time hunting and practicing his martial arts. Incorporating Palms, fists, kicks, spear, and sword attacks into his deadly dance. At this point, it was far from a "Sword" dance. His hunting gave him a total of 55 fate points every day, it seems like as the cultivation of monsters increase, so does the fate points.

He could only wonder how much more he could buy when he encounters higher-stage cultivators. After a week of grinding, he went up to stage 5 Mortal with enough points to buy a storage ring. His stats also increase by 3 thanks to the [Sword Emperor Dance]

[Storage Ring:

A ring made in mass by an ancient blacksmith cultivator. Indestructible, it Is one of the most important things for any cultivator. It can absorb the contents of other rings as long as the other owner allow It or is dead]

[Allow the storage of nonalive things. Can preserve food]

Sadly, by the time he got this ring, the Fire Salamander corpse has long rotten and thrown away. Its meat did taste good while it lasted. With the last remaining 27 points, he brought body and soul in line with mind.

Mors looks at his stats with happiness. This system while fair in its pricing is really giving him a boost. Even in-game, it took at least 1 year to get 50 In all stats. But thanks to the system he has been able to increase his stats at neck-breaking speeds.

It won't be long till he gets all max stats and focuses all his attention on breaking through to the next stage. Mors soon turn around and started to walk forward. His goal was nothing more than the other Ruling monsters of this forest.

The possibility of going into the negatives in fate points was too scary. He wants to buy other things from the system as fast as possible, especially a talent and an event. He could only wonder how much those will improve his cultivation. As Mors continues his walk, he will sometimes encounter black wolves.

Now his rank was higher than theirs, they were no longer a problem. He could easily hunt them down without breaking a sweat. During his 2 hours walk, he killed 5 black wolves, earning 15 fate points in total. Soon Mors reach a large open cave, in front of it were countless black wolves eating a nice meal.

This wolf pack seems to have a cultivation stage ranging from rank 2-4 mortal. The lower-ranking ones seem to be the young and inexperienced wolf. While those in rank 4 seem experienced and older. The 30 or so wolves all look at him while showing off their fangs.

Mors soon grabbed his sword as he looks at the wolf, he knew that these wolfs were not the main problem. A large Black wolf with silver stripes and two large horns walks out of the cave. Mors is now standing in front of the mini-boss and its minions. Mors raises his sword into the sky before bringing it down and pointing it at the Lighting Wolf.

" Lighting Wolf, your free trial for life has come to an end! For I Mors come to kill you and your pack"

The Lighting Wolf could not help but laugh, humans sure were getting arrogant. While yes, they are the same rank. What can a solo human do against his pack? The Lighting Wolf in its arrogance sends forward its minions to finish off this human. Some might die, but that is a sacrifice it's willing to make.

Soon countless wolves started to rush towards Mors, but he stays still. Waiting for the first wolf to reach him. A young wolf, wanting to prove itself useful rushes ahead of its friend. Jumping and opening up its jaws to bite Mors in the neck. But for some weird reason, its body started to spin.

Wait not its body, but it's head. As the wolf lays eyes in its headless body, it knew it was dead. As first blood was drawn, Mors rush forward. Dodging the wolf's attack like he was dancing in a grand ball. His sword will cut their legs and necks off in swift and elegant movements. From time to time, a poor wolf will get kicked in the stomach or punched in the nose.

In just a minute and a half, the low-rank wolf lay dead or with heavy injuries. Only 15 or so rank 4 wolves were left. The Lighting Wolf, look at this with wide eyes. It could not believe this. How could this happen?!

How can a sole human kill so many without breaking a sweat! Little that the wolf knows, Mors stats and martial arts were off the chart for his current rank, hell even his current stage. While all cultivators knew of the effect the Mortal Stage had on their bodies, mind, and soul. The process of training takes too long and they could not be bothered.

They relied more on [Earth] treasures to increase their stats. But even then, very little of them had [Heaven] rank martial arts and Mors had 3 of them! With countless more in his brain. Mors was a walking cheat, a heaven-defining cultivator that is just spreading its wings.

The Lighting Wolf could no longer let this stand as it rushes towards Mors. This was the only change they had to wounding and killing Mors. Mors looks at the Lighting Wolf for a second, before it dodges a black wolf attack. Soon from thin air, a spear appears.

Mors turns around as he locks eyes with the Lighting Wolf. Mors raises his spear sky-high. Soon putting his Qi on the spear and his arm, the spear having a reddish aura to it. The Lighting Wolf felt that aura felt very similar to the aura of the Fire Salamander.

The Black Wolf around Mors jumps forward to attack Mors and stop his attack. Sadly, for them, Mors has trained the past week for moments like this. He dodges the wolf's attacks as he does a downward swing with his spear.

Cracks appear on the body of the spear; the Lighting Wolf sensing danger dodges out of the way. Soon where it was once stood, a large crack appears on the earth, follow by a deafening sound.

Clouds of dust pick up and cover up the Lighting Wolf eyes. The wolf shakes its head as it closes its eyes. But soon a figure appears behind it. Mor's spear attack kill most of the Black Wolfs in front of him as well blinded the rest of them.

Using this time, he decided to deal with the real treat. Mors with a sword in hand, cuts down the Black Wolf with immense strength. Iron meet flesh as a large wound appeared on the Lighting Wolf's back. Sensing pain, the Lighting Wolf howl in anger as a lighting shield form around itself.

Using its own Qi, it made the shield explode. Pushing Mors away but also killing any unlucky Black Wolf around it. As the dust clouds disappear in front of Mor's eyes was nothing more than the Lighting Wolf channeling the element of lighting.

Sadly, he could not kill it before it unleashes its real power. Mors spins the sword in his hand as he looks at the Lighting Wolf and the remaining Black Wolfs.

"Finally decided to get serious?"
