Chapter 5 - Unexpected meeting

"This..." I looked at Kijima with a confused face. I didn't even enter the tried and he is giving me something?

"Consider it a gift, kid."

"T-Thanks."

I picked up the ring but suddenly it vanished inside me, and a system prompt appeared in front of my eyes.

[Inventory Function unlocked]

Kijima looked at me through his Oni mask but didn't bother to say anything for some reason.

I ignored his gaze and wore the mask as I found it cool.

"Hahaha, now you look as cool as me, kid," he stated and then looked in a certain direction.

"it's time for you to leave the graveyard palace, kid. You can take any weapon like from the graveyard to protect yourself but remember, these are just normal weapons."

I nodded at his words and looked for a Katana. The skill book he gave will be related to swords, specifically Katana. Why Katana? Because Kijima was a Katana user. I should find a Katana to utilize my skill.

After looking through various weapons that were lying there, I found a katana.

Suddenly I remembered, I didn't learn the skill.

I took out the book from my inventory.

[Skill book detected.

Would you like to learn this skill?

Yes/No]

I clicked on the yes option and the book turned into mist and penetrated my head.

'What the Fuck! If his skill is on this level, then how powerful is the legacy?' I thought as I felt envious of Colin's luck. He receives the legacy but will never be able to master it; if he cannot master the first legacy, he will never be able to find the other ones.

'Such a waste' I shook my head in defeat and decided to help Colin master the legacy.

I talked with Kijima about my memories, but he refused to help me and said that I'm not ready for them yet.

Kijima may be narcissistic, but he was the wisest among the first legendary awakeners.

I followed his words and didn't dwell much on the matter and prepared to leave this place.

Kijima asked me to close my eyes and when I opened them back, I was in the same place where I was before. My surroundings looked the same as I left. Which means only a few minutes had passed in the real world.

I went towards the corpse of the Red Direwolf and stored it inside my inventory.

Such a convenient tool it is. Although I lost the storage ring, it helped activate the inventory function so was satisfied with that.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps. As I looked in the direction of the footsteps, I saw a handsome young man with a well-built body emerging out of the bushes. His black hair and green eyes reminded me of someone.

'Colin Farrel' I muttered as I encountered one of the first main cast characters of the novel.

Colin also looked at me with expressionless eyes. Thankfully, I still had the Oni mask on, so I wasn't worried about my identity. I just don't want to cross paths with any major character yet with my identity known to them.

"..."

"...H-Hello!" I spoke and broke the silence.

Colin didn't answer and took out his sword.

He pointed it toward me and said,

"I killed the other one and you will die too" he spoke.

'He must be thinking of me as the assassins sent to kill him. I need to clear this misunderstanding.' I thought.

"...oh, it's a misunderstanding brother. I'm just a passerby who accidentally crossed the path with you." I spoke.

Suddenly I saw a white flash in front of me and I instinctively jumped back.

"Huh? Did you see through my attack?" Colin asked with a surprised tone, but his face remained unfazed.

"You idiot! I said I'm just passing through here. Are you deaf or what?" I screamed.

He ignored my words and again rushed at me with a sword in his hands.

"Fine, you pushed me to do this," I screamed as I put my hands on the scabbard and other on the handle of Katana on my waist and focused on a skill I just learned.

"Phantom Style 1st form, Full counter," I muttered under my breath, and suddenly with a subtle click sound, I was sent flying a few fleets always from my initial position.

"F-Fuking bastard." I cursed as I struggled to stand up. But I could feel my body healing, albeit slowly. Fortunately, I didn't get any serious injuries.

I tried to look for Colin and saw him lying a few feet away from me. I rushed to him and, his condition was not that serious.

'Holy shit! He attacked me to kill me.' I concluded as I looked at the damage done by the reflected attack.

I looked at his storage and looked for something useful.

I took out a high-grade healing potion and a high-grade mana potion.

I poured the healing potion into Williams's mouth and took the mana potion for myself as compensation to make use of almost all of my mana for that full counter.

I was on the verge of mana depletion using the full counter just one time.

Soon, Colin's body healed, and he was about to open his eyes. I immediately left the forest and head back to the academy.

***

Colin was lying alone in a thick forest when he suddenly opened his eyes.

He immediately stood up and checked on his body.

"Where did that guy go? Was I wrong about him?" Colin muttered as he was confused about why the assassin didn't kill him.

He still remembered those hazel-blue eyes under that intimidating mask. When he attacked, he just heard a subtle click and then he lost consciousness.

It was already quite late in the evening when I reached the Academy. I showed my ID watch and went on my way to the dorms.

Finally, I stood in front of dorm 7-A. I was on my way to my when a student blocked my path.

"Uh...how may I help you, brother?" I asked as I looked at the student. From his looks, he already looked quite pissed.

"Raizel Askanor, first year. Do you know who I am?" he said

"Sorry brother...this is the first and last time I am late. Please let this little brother go for this once." I answered with an innocent face.

'Fuck! Why did I encounter this guy?' I cursed inwardly. Fatty already told me about him. He is the dorm monitor of dorm 7-A, Isac Brian. He was one of the core members of the Disciplinary Committee of the Academy. Fatty also told me that he is powerful, so he never messes with him.

"It's good if you understand, but if I ever saw you late again, I will make you regret it," he said.

He was about to leave when he suddenly Scarlet came.

"Fight with me, you bastard! How dare you bully weaklings," he screamed.

'This idiot. He is calling me a weakling?' my face twitched at his comments, but I instantly left the place. Who would want to get into a fight between freaks like these? They both are maniacs always eager to fight anytime and anywhere.

*Clank*

I opened the door of my room and entered. I went to the kitchen and grabbed some snacks and coke. Once my tummy filled, I felt satisfied. I suffered a lot and another thing that I noticed was that my healing heals my body at the cost of my mana. But the most worrying thing was its capability to calm my mind. It may sound like an awesome ability at first but the way I felt and experienced it, it affects my mind on a grand scale. I can't exert my emotion to the full extent, otherwise, this ability will again show its effect and put my mind into a neutral state. It may affect my mind or personality in the long-term use. I need to be careful with this skill.

"Haaa...I will think about it later. I will read it for now." I muttered jumping on my bed to rest.

In a faraway place, in the continent of Necrolis,

"Your Highness, the initial preparations are done, and we will be ready within a year." a kneeling person with a large build said. His body was greyish black with two short horns on his head.

Another majestic figure was sitting on an elegant throne. His body was covered in majestic clothes and looked perfect. His expressionless face showed elegance and pride. The two majestic horns on his head were much more refined and shinier than the person kneeling in front of him.

"I understand. You can leave now and report me if you face a danger above your level," he said instantly the person kneeling in front of him, left the hall.

"Just five more years, and I will be free to conquer everything. This time, no one will be able to stop me," he muttered.
