"Yes?" Yuying furrows, sounding confused. "Yes, what?" She isn't sure what Professor Williams was trying to say. It kind of sounds like she's not finishing her sentence on purpose, almost like she's deliberately trying to leave her hanging or something.
"Yes," Professor Williams re-emphasizes with a slight giggle in her words, nodding even though Yuying couldn't even see her, "As in, that was the only word that you were saying the whole time!"
"Yes?" Yuying repeats dumbly as she processes what Professor Williams had just told her. She has no idea how she could possibly get by the entire research assistantship, let alone the entire day by just saying one single word in response to everything. After all, how the heck could anyone possibly get through one whole day saying nothing but the word 'yes'?
