Continuity and placement: Long before Season 6

I am Hansel Reyersbach.
A proud native-born Seattleite, who is equally proud that I have a younger sister who always cares for me, despite having her own quirks and flaws.
And this sister of mine...
...is named Gretel, and we are both named after that famous fairy tale.
When our parents decided to bring us into this world, named after those famous siblings...
...I could feel that she and I are bound by what is called "the red string of fate".
This ethereal string can be a boon, or a bane.
It all depends on how we use it, how we deal with its effects on us.
As she and I were born a year apart, we can feel the dynamics surrounding us… which are strengthened by outside factors.
I still remember feeling the first profound effects of those dynamics back in kindergarten.
It wasn't the typical wishy-washy fantasy of "I promise to marry you when we grow up".
