They next day Viking army broke in to 4 and three of them under the command of their respective jarl took them to their targets, while Olaf with the main force stayed in York for some time before leaving to attack aelle, he had to leave a garrison in York as the marched out heading north to Bamburgh.
After sometime they arrived near a hill and stoped to make camp, Olaf looked at the city that was his targets and called some Vikings and told them to scout the area near the castle, he went back to the map and was looking at it, that was when floki came and said 'so what is you're place Olaf?" the man in replied for now we study them and see if they will stay still which will mean we need to build siege weapons to attack and enter their castle or they send their army out and we crash it and still siege the castle, so floki may you build us ladders and covers that protect the men from arrows,' to which the man smiled and said 'don't worry Olaf I'll build you the best ones,' and he left while Olaf walked to the top of the hill and stayed looking at the castle.
In the castle the king aelle was sweating with worry as from the news he got was the large Viking army split in to smaller ones and started attacking all over his kingdom, and a large army has just arrived near his castle and now he was being asked what they should do, he looked to his younger brother and asked 'well brother what do you think we should do,attack or defend?' The brother wulfric answered 'normally I would say defend but this is different,' to which the king asked 'why is this different?' The brother answered 'well we are fighting for the existence of this kingdom as they look on to taking it away from us and that from what we information we can gather this army here is the largest out of all that are moving so that means that if we destroy this one the other a may lose heart and leave and if not the others shoulders will want to rise and fight,' the king thought on it and said 'okay I put you in charge of the army,' to which he nodded and said 'I'll gather and attack tomorrow."
The following day in the morning olaf stood looking at the castle and noticed at how there was a lot of movement and smiled and looked to floki and said 'get the army ready and in position it looked like the saxons are coming out to attack us,' to which brough giggles to floki who went down, later the Vikings left the camp and went to an open space and waited for a short while when the Saxon army came out and headed straight for the Vikings but when the got in front of them they noticed that the land around was burnt.
Olaf who saw them come was happy and looked at floki as at the same time they drop torches with fire which spread to the other side of the battlefield and trapped the saxons and now the couldn't retreat and had to fight and charged forward while Olaf looked at them coming and shouted "archers, fire!' And with that a large wave of arrows launched and hit many saxons and Olaf continued this as he knew that they had no choice and the numbers reduce when the got closer he shouted 'warriors, shield wall!' And it was formed and they got in to a clash but the Saxon charge was weak as the arrows did their work and the Vikings started pushing them easily and cutting them down and it looked like it was becoming one sided.
The battle looked like it was ended when the saxons were cut down and the Vikings roared with their victory and Olaf looked at the castle and said "get the ladders we are taking the Castle," and they went with ladders and took the walls with ease as there was few defenders and the doors opened and the Vikings poured ina nod started killing the people in and taking valuables from them," in the throne room aelle who heard of his brothers defeat looked to packing all the valuables he could with his wife and daughter,' but that was interrupted when there was noises outside the room and the doors was knocked open Vikings came in and saw the crowns on the family and ran to them to capture them, after which the were held in the throne room until there was a Viking warrior who walked in and all the others looked in respect to him as he walked in, he continued his walk to the throne and sat on it and the prisoners were dragged before him, this was when king aelle said "please don't kill me,'
Olaf who heard this laughed and said "don't worry I don't plan to kill you unless you become more annoying than your worth, but you will be kept as king for now if this danelaw and all this technically belongs to Vikings but you will be a figure head understand,' to which aelle nodded to and Olaf said "good now this Northumbria belongs to us," and the was cheering as the Vikings have just expanded their territory and made themselves more famous with their battles.
