I grab my Louboutin nude heels in my hand, wearing my flats. I wear a light blue corsage on my wrist with a cute light blue mini dress. I grab my keys and try locking the door. I hear sounds and see him walking down the hallway wearing a suit. I hear my phone ringing as I try to hold onto my Louboutins.
"Rosie, I am here in front; where are you?" Mark asked on the phone
"I am coming," as I dashed downstairs. He was walking towards the parking garage on the floor. I run towards the elevator with my hair breezing across him. The elevator opened, and I saw him look at me. And I smiled at him.
I had a crush on him for a bit. I mistook him for this guy in my chem lab freshman year. And then, in the end, I figured out they were two different guys.
We "met" once. He and I accidentally met in the trash room. I gestured him to go first. And he said thank you before he went in and thank you after he came out. It did leave me a good impression. Maybe it was then I started liking him.
I often saw him on our floor that semester; I would see him down the hall when I was leaving for class with my roommate. I also saw him at the bus stop. Once I saw him wear a basketball jersey with a basketball.
The next semester I wouldn't see him around the building often, but I would see him at the library and around the college. Accidentally spot would be the correct word.
Maybe I accidentally fell deep for him when I didn't know his name or anything about him. It is pretty pathetic.
The frat and sorority I am in had a party, so that is why Mark is driving me there. You would think frat boys are crazy, but the ones at my college are the sweetest.
I wonder where he is going with a suit on. Mark looked over, "Rosie is something bothering you?"
I looked at the road in front of us as Mark drove. "Remember when I told you about my crush."
Mark said, "Yes."
"I saw him tonight." as I fidgeted with my bag.
Mark took a sip of his drink as he drove with one hand.
"You haven't gotten over him yet? I introduced you to so many guys, but you still are on this one."
I looked at Mark as he was driving. "Mark, I don't know something attracts me to him, even know I barely know him. I know that sounds crazy."
Mark's phone rang. Mark glanced at the car screen. "It is my mom. Can you pick it up?"
I picked up the phone "Hi Barbara; Mark is driving."
Barbara said, " I wanted to tell Mark to invite you over for spring break to our house."
I said, " I would love to. See you then, Barbara."
Barbara said, "Gives hugs and kisses to Mark for me."
I hung up the phone and made kissing sounds, and blew a kiss to Mark. "Kisses courtesy of your mom, relayed by me." I giggled.
"Mark, so who's coming tonight? I asked while checking the time. The party starts at 8:30 pm.
"The usual bunch but also the guys from the intramural basketball team." Mark swerved as some asshole almost attempted to hit him.
"Well, Well, Mark, have you been hiding some cute guys from your intramural team and not letting me meet them?" I said as I grabbed his ear lobe
"Rosie, I am letting you meet them now. It is dangerous grabbing my earlobe like that." As Mark indulgently said to Rosie
"Btw Mark, what should I cook for your family over spring break?" Rosie looked for recipes on her phone.
"Rosie, they would love anything you made," Mark said
Mark and I have been friends since pre-k. He is my sidekick.
Mark pulled into the drive with my car in the driveway. I got drunk last night, so I didn't drive back, but Mark drove me back. Mark never drinks so that he can drive me back to my place.
We get into the house and see the guy who lives in my building. Hmm, interesting. Is he on Marks' Inturmural basketball team?
Mark introduces me to his intramural basketball team. Marks introduces everyone, and then we get to the cute guy down the hall. Mark says, "This is Grayson."
I shake Grayson's hand as I did with all of Mark's intramural basketball team. Grayson says, "You look so familiar. Do you live on the 7th floor of Yarn palace?"
I looked at him. "Oh, why yes. You look very familiar too." Me obviously downplaying the situation that I don't know him.
Mark then proceeded to introduce me. "This is Rosie, my childhood friend since pre-k. My trusty sidekick."
Mark said, "Guys, you make yourself at home, there is dinner catering, and we will have raffles later."
Mark and I walked away; I grabbed Mark in the corner and cornered him. "Mark, Mark, you have been hiding him all along, haven't you. How dare you."
Mark dejectedly said sadly, "The guys from the team are very shy and introverted, so this is why you're meeting them for the first time."
I stroked Mark's cheek, as I pinched his cheek abruptly. "You are inviting him to the yacht party, right?"
Mark grabbed my hand. "Your wish is my command, your majesty."
I roll my eyes and walk away.
I walk to Grayson, "What year? What major are you?"
Grayson put down his glass and looked at me. "I am a business major, finance, and am a junior."
I replied, "Such a funny world, me too."
Grayson said, "I have seen you around, and I thought you were cute. But I didn't know how to approach you. I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date."
I looked at him in his green eyes, "Greyson, I would love to. I didn't know how to approach you either. I saw you around, but I didn't know how to say anything."
Grayson, still looking deep into my eyes, "Can I get your phone number, and do you mind if I call you?"
I grabbed my cellphone out of my bag. "Absolutely, you can have my number."
He pressed his number on my phone, and I texted him, saying, hey, it is Rosie.
Grayson asked, " Are you free Tomorrow for the date? Because I would love to see you sooner for the date."
I responded, remembering I had to run to the office Tomorrow. "Oh, I would love to see you Tomorrow for the date, but I have to run into the office where I intern and prepare items. Because even though it is the long week of break, I am going with my supervisor to California to see a client."
Grayson responded, "I love that for you." He did seem a little dejected though
I responded, patting his shoulder, "You can come on by, and we talk, and I can pack. And we can grab some takeout. And we can always do our formal date after I come back, and I can be dressed up for that."
Grayson responded and grabbed my hand as he fiddled with my fingers. "I would love that."
I thought, why does it feel like I've known him for so long. It did feel very long, though, I saw him in the hallway, but always his face turned or his book bag. And he was an arm's length away.
Maybe this is what it feels like when things feel so right.
I saw my sorority sisters, and they walked up and said to Greyson, "We will be borrowing her for a bit."
Greyson took a swig of his water and just smiled. "Go ahead."
My sorority sister Lara was like, as we get our seltzer, "What is going on?" As she playfully poked my shoulder.
I jumped up and down. " He asked me out, the crush I was telling you all about for months."
Lara shrieked, "He is here, right?" jumping up and down with me.
I eyed over there where Greyson was at; Lara looked at me. "Oh my goodness, girl, he is a cutie like you described."
