Min Jun closed the door and swallowed back the lump in his throat. He leaned against the door, his eyes shut, his thoughts racing. He had worked too hard to bring Jessie around to lose her now.
She was everything he had hoped for and more, especially considering what he had seen of her ex-husband and son. He wished he had done more than deck the asshole. But maybe it wasn't too late. He could make the man pay. Only if Jessie never found out. She was adamant she wanted to deal with this herself. Min Jun had faith she would try, but he didn't think she had it in her to make sure they paid for all the years of anguish he imagined Jessie must have fielded.
He reached for his phone and scrolled for the number he needed. "Hey, Jackson. I need the number of an investigator. Can you hook me up?"
"What do you need, MJ? Maybe I can help you out."
Min Jun thought about it. "Not a good idea this time."
"It has to do with Jessie." It was a statement.
"Could be."
"Our girl, alright?"
