The gun made Matt nervous. Hand-to-hand combat, he could control, but a firearm was a different story, especially in the hands of amateurs. Not only were the five people in question at danger, but bullets also traveled and didn't care with whom they collided. An unsuspecting jogger or frolicking group of tots were just as susceptible to bullet wounds as the guilty.
The best Matt could do for right now was keep them talking until he could either take possession of the gun or convince them to go somewhere more isolated. The first option was the better of the two.
"So you're pissed at Steph and me now. Is that it?" Matt asked, determined to stall as long as possible. "How does this end?"
