Mr. Smith's office could have doubled as a showcase for an empty room. The room was empty besides a desk, office chair, and two guest chairs. He didn't even have a computer on the desktop. Steph knew he had one because he had run the PowerPoint off a laptop in the classroom.
At least his outer office, where the teacher's assistant would typically greet guests and grade papers, had the addition of filing cabinets and a desktop computer. On one wall was a university banner, a picture of the dean, and an American flag.
Steph wonder who would draw the short straw and end up this guy's TA. As tough as he was on the students, she couldn't imagine his assistant would have it any easier.
"Ms. Qaid, did you make an appointment just to check out my office accouterments?"
"No, sir, sorry." Steph forced her attention to the man in front of her.
