Chapter 19 - I Had My Plans

Mateo held the knife nervously as he approached Alec slowly. "I know you were a traitor, but you even had the guts to pledge loyalty to your boss Diego. Do you think that crazy man would keep you here, with your reputation as a master betrayer?" Alec asked Mateo without expression.

"I don't get to listen to you talking. Don't worry this would be swift", Mateo approached Alec and brandished the knife.

"I feel pity for you. I cannot imagine how Diego would feel in his grave when he sees the young boy he personally raised turned out to be a traitor", Alec replied in pity.

If it's one thing he felt detested for, is not an enemy seeking to kill him, but a friend turning into your enemy and backstabbing you. That was the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

Mateo's eyes became complicated. He lowered the knife and dropped to his knee. This was not what he wanted his life to turn out. The reason he even accepted the bribe was due to personal reasons.

His mother recently underwent surgery, but the hospital treatments were piling up constantly, almost drowning him up. There was no way the money Diego paid him was enough to cover the expenses, and he could tell his master of his dilemma.

When he was given the twenty million pesos by the mafia, he accepted it without a second thought. He initially believed he could scam this Mafia organization and run away, without betraying anyone, but he terribly underestimated these people.

"You can kill me, and hang my head in that wood there, but think about your future too. Many variables are going against you here, if you kill me, they might kill you, or they would make you their bodyguard. Either way, your life would no longer be as peaceful as it was. Is that what you really want?

Mateo closed his eyes and screamed, "Shut up Santiago!" His eyes became resolute. Mateo stood up and held the knife to Alec's throat.

"I hope you forgive me for doing this", Mateo whispered to Alec's ear.

This was now or never. Alec held his gun in his tied hands and waited for Mateo to come closer, but what he did next surprised him. Mateo lowered the knife to his body and cut the rope that bound his limbs together.

"What are you doing?" Alec asked surprised. "What I should've done a long time ago", Mateo said solemnly. "I had my plans, but thanks for making it easy for me", Alec replied, still pretending to the bound to fool the guards at the door.

"You had your plans? You were bound, and I was about to kill you. What kind of stupid plans do you have that would work now?" Mateo asked dumbfounded.

"Just watch", Alec smiled and opened his hands, which contained a small button. Mateo opened his eyes wide. "How did you have it with you?" Mateo asked dumbfounded.

"Remember when I was admiring the paints on the parlour, I wasn't. I planted a series of type two grenades all around the parlour, and this is the trigger", Alec said, curling his lips

Just then, one of the guards, on seeing the two conversing with each other, approached them quickly. "Kill him already", he growled expressionlessly.

Mateo stood up and looked at him. "All right, I'll do that", Mateo said with a smile. Alec immediately knew what he was about to do. Before Alec could react, Mateo brandished the long knife and stabbed the guard's eyes, twisting it simultaneously.

The guard howled in pain, as he retreated and held the knife that was stuck on his eye socket. The commotion caused the other guard to react immediately, but he was a step too late.

Alec immediately took out his gun and shot towards him, shattering his skull into fragments. Mateo looked at him with shock.

"He was far away, yet you were able to shoot him on the head!" Mateo suddenly felt fear. If Alec's plan involved killing him, he would have ended up in a worse state, just like this guard.

Alec stood up and casually pointed his gun towards the howling guard on the ground and shot him without even looking, ending his life

Part of the reason Alec even shot at that distance was the necklace he took from Diego's corpse. The chain he held on his hand argumented his luck, enabling him to shoot at that distance to kill the guard at such distance. The bullets didn't even waver.

Alec immediately left the garden and killed any guards that approached him. Thanks to the silencer, the massacre didn't arouse any commotion.

"Wait, boss! What am I supposed to do?" Mateo ran after Alec with a rifle in his hands. "Get out of here", Alec said and ran towards the parlour section.

"Boss, I want to fight with you. At least let me do this to pay for what I caused", Mateo replied and held his rifle with determination.

"Throw the rifle away, it's empty", Alec said and searched for the route to the parlour. The mansion might look big on the outside, but it looked even bigger on the inside.

"What?" Mateo was dumbfounded. He tested the rifle on the field, and just as Alec had told him, it was empty. Was this part of Alec's plan

Thank God he chose to help Alec, otherwise, his fate would have been unknown. "Where's the way to the parlour?" Alec asked Mateo. "Uhm... It's over there", Mateo said in a small voice.

Alec followed his direction and left the garden, leaving Mateo alone dumbfounded.

Matias walked slowly towards the voice coming out from a chamber nearby. The pain in his body had reduced, so he was able to walk. While he was slowly walking, he saw two guards approaching his direction.

With haste, he immediately ran into the room closest to him and locked the door. He closed his eyes and sighed. He could not live on like this, this pain, this suffering. He has to kill someone before he died.

After the guards went past his room, he slowly opened the door and checked the hall, and seeing no one, he slowly left and closed the door silently.

Suddenly, Matias realized something, and he opened the door again. He opened his mouth in utter disbelief.

Inside the room was ammunition of all sorts. Rifles, military-grade bombs, grenades, shotguns, the rocket launcher was packed here in gross numbers.

Matias approached the crates with a complicated expression. He could not help but smile. "Oh god, thank you for answering my prayers", Matias said, as he felt like crying.

After taking his sixth corner, he saw the massive door that led to the parlour. Alec sighed in relief and approached the door silently.

Just as he was about to open the door, someone approached him slowly, holding a machine gun.

Alec immediately turned around and pointed his gun at him, but when he realized who it was, he was shocked.
