Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Cheating Girlfriend

"Where is our Mr. Awesome?" Kara, Liam's girlfriend, asked me when I settled down in my seat at our table in the cafeteria. I looked at her with a huge smile.

"With his new girlfriend." I told her. We had a test today as it was Monday. So, we stayed at home on Saturday instead of going out somewhere like usual and since we were just studying, I called Leah, my English project partner, the girl Xander was currently crushing on, and invited her to my house where me and Xander were studying. I introduced Leah to Xander and by Sunday, they officially became a couple.

Like he promised, Xander treated me to Pizza on both Saturday and Sunday. I helped him study for the test we had in the second class of the day and it went well too. At least for me. Xander and I didn't talk much since it was his first day at school with his new girlfriend so I don't know how he did on the test. But I was happy for him anyway.

"Lets just hope that this one won't try anything on you when Xander breaks up with her." Liam said with a smirk. I frowned at him.

"Liam! Be positive! Leah might be the girl who would finally make our player quit his games." I told him. Everyone on the table looked at me for a second before they all burst out laughing. Even Damien joined them. The girls on the table were crying from how hard they were laughing.

"Do you really believe that, E?" Sarah, Kara's best friend asked me as she tried to stop laughing.

"Honestly, I don't. But Xander was the one who said this. And I wouldn't want to be the one to burst his bubble." I told them honestly, making them laugh some more. I shook my head with a small smile at my friends as they all laughed at Xander's words. I turned my head just in time to see Xander and Leah coming over to the table, hand-in-hand.

"Oh! There they are!" Damien announced as they came closer to the table.

"How's it going guys?" I asked them with a smile as everyone looked at them. Xander smiled at me and I could see that it was forced which made me want to burst out laughing but I controlled myself when I heard someone snicker beside me. I looked at Leah to find her eyes big in shock as she stared at some beside me. I turned my head to see her staring at Mason.

"Mace, isn't she the girl you brought home last night?" Jason asked his brother. My eyes grew wide as I stared at Mason. Mason was busy frowning at Leah as he rubbed his jaw with his index finger and thumb.

"Lena, right?" He asked Leah as he continued to stare at her as if she was a difficult math equation. Leah however was frozen in her spot.

"She's Leah, Xander's new girlfriend." I told Mason. Mason's eyes grew wide as he turned to me. My eyes grew wide as well as I looked at Mason. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Xander turning to Leah with an angry expression.

"I swear, I didn't know who she was! I just went to a party and she was there. I didn't even make the first move!" Mason said in his defence. I glared at him. Everyone at our table and the students who overheard our conversation all stared at Xander and Leah in shock.

"Really, Mace? They just started dating yesterday around noon! Merely twenty-four hours ago!" I hissed at him. Mason opened and closed his mouth like a goldfish. I shook my head before I stood up from my seat and moved to stand between Xander and Leah. Leah was still frozen.

"Why did you do it?" I asked Leah with gritted teeth. I was aware of all the eyes that were staring at us but I didn't care. I know that Xander was a player and he might deserve what happened to him but he was still my best friend. It was my duty to stand up for him when someone does something wrong with him.

"I-I…" Leah tried to speak but she couldn't say anything in her defence. It angered me even more.

"Why did you even say yes to Xander's proposal when you were not going to be loyal to him?" I asked her, the volume of my voice rising with each word. "Why did you do this to him? You could have easily said no to him when you didn't want to be in a relationship with him!" I spoke up before she could open her mouth. I was about to say more but I felt Xander grabbing my arm to stop me. I looked at him to see a calm expression on his face.

"It's alright, Elle." He told me softly before turning to Leah. "We are not over. We never started." He said not only to Leah but to everyone who was listening to our conversation. "I realised that I didn't want to be with you either and I was going to break up with you anyway. You just made it easier for me." Xander said in his deep voice.

"And just so we are clear, it wasn't my fault that you two broke up. It was your fault so if you try or even think about pulling any revenge prank or some shit on me, I'll make you regret ever coming here." I told her. Xander rolled his eyes at me but I could see a small smile on his face.

"By the way, try to control your cousin. She kissed me when you left yesterday." Xander said before he sat down in his seat like nothing happened. Leah gasped but then her face became red with anger as she ran out of the cafeteria probably to search for her sister.

"Show's over, buddies!" Liam called out to everyone in the cafeteria. Soon, the silence was again filled with the usual cafeteria chaos. I took my seat next to Xander with Mason on my other side. I raised an eyebrow at Xander.

"You do know that you cheated on her before she cheated on you, right?" I asked Xander.

"Hey! Her cousin was a much better kisser than her anyway!" Xander said with a smirk. I shook my head at his comment.

This girl only lasted for a day…
