The next day, the mission came, theirs was to deliver various goods to parts of the world in connection to the mafia and those who had their assignments all went on board with the laid-out plans. Rodrigo and Caputo led a band of seven to the Treviso airport which is a smaller airport than the Marco Polo airport, but as usual, they must always be in either the most suspected areas or the least and today, the chose to be at the least of both places. According to don Vincente, the Irish were a difficult people to work with and one needed to be careful with them picky lot. In addition to the Irish which were the primary targets for the business, the police, these have been the hardest part of Venice to control by Ace Vincente's mafia. Lately Rugani, seemed to know everything that happened or did not happen in the city. The Irish had a chartered plane to themselves, it was the kind of plane that would not cause any sort of attention, it was not pretty, it was not ugly, it was one of those planes that just stayed there in a space and accumulated parking fees.
On getting to the airport Rodrigo could tell that something was not right, there seemed to be a lot more people than usual who looked the same but tried to do too many different things at the same time. Almost everyone, male and female looked Irish, but the airport was too quiet for a place infested by people so loud and aggressive. "Let the men at the back go first with the decoy." He said as he signaled a stop to all vehicles involved. There were three cars involved, and the first decoy was headed by Caputo. He and another man gathered themselves with two identical briefcases with identical weights marching towards different directions. Rodrigo had to watch the way things went and as soon as he noticed some funny movements, he released another two briefcases, identical in weight and color to the first two. The officers on ground, disguised as the Irish immediately followed, almost
immediately. The Irish, however, were still in their plane because they had not been informed of the arrival of Ace Vicente's men. The reason though is because Ace Vicente is a man who not only protects himself but the people he did business with. Now amongst the planes, there were a few more that looked like that one and it would have taken an awful lot of time to make it through all of them in search of fair little leprechauns.
Rodrigo's discomfort in the way that things moved, forced him to make a call to cause another distraction at the Marco Polo airport where another fake deal was being made with one man, the don himself and the Irishmen for which had come a long way for this particular transaction spoke over the phone to seal the deal. This had already been settled days back and the transaction that went on at the airports were just a faux pas to keep things going and the police off their backs as they transported the first rounds of cocaine.
Caputo and his partner were stuck in an elevator with a pair of fake Irishmen who had followed them in hunt for their briefcases. As they dragged Caputo's man inside the elevator, Caputo struggled with two more inside of it, fighting to keep the cases closed while they bought time for when they got the signal that the rounds had been delivered at the appropriate location. This was something they did to keep the cops away from the stock and it was working. At the Marco Polo airport, the distraction had led to a full-on shoot-out between the men and the police and had soon turned into a chase that pulled all of the police officers at the Marco Polo airport away. The chase would end where it started as the men turned around and back to the airport. Their arrests were made.
A third pair of briefcases were released by Rodrigo who had now started the process of evacuating his men. They had all well been trained for this sort of operation and they were now making moves to fully effect the final lap of this scatter head of a race.
The fight that went on between Caputo and the policemen now got even heated, but that was not a problem, Ace Vicente would come to their rescue if they got arrested. The only condition was that they did not kill a policeman as it would have made it even more difficult for them.
The signal had been given and the men were now all heading for their allocated exits. This caused such a frenzy that the policemen disguised as Irishmen began a mass arrest to make sure they kept everyone in the airport in one place. But that was not a thing that concerned Rodrigo. He got in his car and drove off. And as expected, the police went after him. It was typical of Rodrigo to move like that, it was his job to make decisions that saved the rest and put him at risk. It was a long chase and chases like this one seemed to be more frequent these days.
A few crashed police cars after and the guns started going off, they hit his tire and he crashed nearly crushed by the rooftop that now pressed against his head.
As he struggled his way out of the vehicle, a bullet hit him and he went down
