Charles dragged Tammy in for a hug and asked, "How's my niece doing today?"
"I'm alright uncle, Happy Birthday. Long healthy life and happiness to you," she replied with a smile.
"Thank you, sweetie. I'm delighted you're here. You recognize your cousin, Timothy?" asked Charles, pointing to Timothy who was standing next to him and carrying a glass of wine.
Tammy cast a quick glance towards the jerk that had harmed her best friend. He had a stern expression on his face, yet as always he looked incredibly handsome.
Tammy had never seen him smiling. Perhaps a smile would make him more attractive. Tammy was left wondering what planet Timothy was from because he was the complete opposite of his parents and twin sisters.
Looking back at her uncle, Tammy muttered, "I do recall him."
Charles responded, "Good. I was just asking him how soon he was going to give me my first grandchild," and Timothy sighed.
"We've promised not to discuss this, Dad."
"As long as you will not give me my grandchild, I'll talk about it. I want you to have a child now that I'm still healthy and have the stamina to go around with him or her. I asked for a grandchild doesn't mean I expect you to get involved with a lady only for the baby, nor do I expect you to bring a woman to your mom and me, pretending to love each other, and then you guys will divorce a few days after the baby is born. I simply want you to be happy and have your own family. I want you to experience what your mother and I have."
"It's not my fault, Dad, they have always been chasing after my wealth," Timothy said, and Tammy looked at him stunned.
"Just give yourself the opportunity to socialize," Charles said. "I think there's someone out there for you, someone who will love you for who you are and not for what you have."
Timothy wondered why his father was speaking about those topics in front of his cousin who particularly he didn't like.
Charles told the two, "You two should catch up, I will go say hello to the other visitors," and he then walked away.
Tammy had wanted to confront Timothy after Megan told her all he had done, but she refrained because Megan pleaded with her to stay out of trouble. As soon as she noticed the left side of his face, where Megan had thrown her heels at him, she giggled. Even though the bulge had disappeared, that side still had some loose skin that served as a reminder of it.
Timothy handed the empty glass to a server and said, "I see that my so-called cousin cannot help fawning over me."
Tammy grinned incredulously. Her cousin was extremely arrogant.
"I'm sorry to let you down, Timothy, but I don't find you attractive. Even if you were the last and only man alive, I would choose to die alone rather than be with you."
"Whatever makes you at peace at night." He muttered while sliding his hands into his pocket.
"By the way, what happened to your face?" She pretended to know nothing as she enquire.
"Not that it's any of your concern but I bumped my face against the wall." Timothy almost instantly said, as if he had been preparing the words so that everyone would think he had knocked his face against the wall.
Tammy ridiculed, attempting to contain her laughing, "Oh, Really? It looks like someone has flung something at you. Like a pebble or something." She was delighted when her best friend flung her heels at him.
"As I said, it's none of your concern," Timothy muttered gritting his teeth. Tammy thought she saw smoke coming from his ears.
Tammy inquired eagerly, "So when will you grant your Dad a grandchild?" Timothy made no response.
"Well maybe if you start treating people nicer and if you quit having ridiculous opinions that everyone is after your wealth, perhaps you will probably find someone who you might like," Tammy said, laughing. You're a jerk and an enormous dirtbag. I feel so bad for the person who put up with you. I also wish and hope your child looks nothing like you in terms of attitude."
"Don't bring my future innocent child into our conflict," he said firmly.
"That's assuming you ever have one and don't die as a miserable man." Tammy made fun of him.
Unexpectedly, a small-framed brunette approached Timothy, placed one of her arms possessively around his waist, and gave Tammy a courteous gaze.
In shock, Tammy shook her head. She couldn't believe Timothy had gone on, seemingly unaffected by what transpired between him and her closest friend. On the other hand, Megan was making a valiant effort to forget about him.
"I hope you realize he will end it up with you the soon you both step out of this party."
"She is not my girlfriend. She is just a friend," Timothy remarked as he disentangled Mia's arm from his, addressing the brunette who was clinging to him. Mia's interest in him was so clear.
The Brunette girl may be his friend, but she aspired to be more than that. Although Tammy wanted to confront Timothy about his encounter with Megan, she was unable to do so since she had already given Megan a guarantee that she wouldn't do so. Megan doesn't want Timothy to know that she was acquainted with Tammy for some reason that isn't clear. Tammy, though, couldn't help but imply a question.
Timothy stood still. "I saw you at paradise hotel two weeks ago. I called you, but I assume you didn't hear me. You were with a woman. Your gaze never left hers as you two made your way into the hotel. Had she been that special?" Paradise hotel is the hotel he checked into, to enjoy himself with women.
He last visited there a month ago with Megan, and that visit also happened to be the last time he had sex. He couldn't believe it had been a month since he had last been single.
He clenched his teeth, "Tammy, what I do with my life is not your concern."
Tammy could see that he shared Megan's sentiments by the way he responded. She was relieved that her best friend wasn't the only one going through hardship.
"I shouldn't be informing you this, but since you're my cousin, I will. A colleague of mine brought that same woman to our annual party last week. According to my colleague, he not only plans to make her his girlfriend but also his wife and the mother of his future children because he likes her a lot. He stated the girl had experienced a lot of heartbreaks and he planned on helping her forget all the dirtbags that crushed her heart," she said.
When Tammy observed Timothy's enraged face and tightened fists, she knew her goal had been attained.
