Chereads / Pegasus: Journey through the sky / Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

I finally realize that fate works mysteriously sometimes, it can be good or bad. But in my case, I just don't know…

Perseus is king of Argos? Since when? My guess is - after decapitating my mom no doubt. I seriously can't believe it, he went from a warrior to a king who now owns a grand city. I just got out of that cave a few weeks ago and now all of a sudden things have change so fast.

How do I feel about this? I can't tell, everyone will probably wonder that why I'm not mad at the human for killing my mom, well… maybe I should be but. When I think about it, me and my brother might never be born if Perseus never came. Mom was a monster and curse on top of that and automatically she couldn't give birth right away, so we were always stuck there inside our mom until Perseus showed up.

I'm not saying I'm glad my mom is dead - no, I'm upset for sure - but I'm sure he must have his reason for doing that and if the gods are involved… I really can't do anything about it.

I don't like holding grudges, it's just not me. Instead, I decided to move forward and head to a great future, thinking about the past isn't going to help me - and as for mom. She'll always be remembered in my heart.

Kinda makes me wonder, who my father is then-

"Sky! Look!" Deacon suddenly yelled.

Maybe I'll think about that later.

I look at the direction Deacon was pointing, and I was surprise to see it was a huge mountain and woah is it breathtaking.

"Let's check it out."

Umm… okay… if he said so, guess curiosity beats safety first. Nah, it will be okay; I'll protect him.

But just in case, I decided to land at the foot of the mountain; is valley's because hey safety is really important - forget what I said 5 seconds ago.

I flew a little closer and when I feel like it's already safe to land, I immediately touch down to the solid ground.

Deacon hop off from my back and started admiring the big mountain. "Woah, this mountain is huge. But I wonder what kind of mountain this is?"

"This mountain is called mount Parnassus." A mysterious voice suddenly spoke.

Both of us got startled and step back a few inches, who was that? Does someone live on this mountain? Or are we just hearing things?

"W-Who's there?" Deacon demanded with a jibberish tone, then he started hugging me while shaking. Poor guy must be scared.

I readied myself for whoever's going to approach us, however… what I was expecting was… not what I have imagined.

"It's okay young mortal, I'm not here to hurt you. I just sense a presence here on our mountain and came to see who it was, I was not expecting the two of you." The voice got clearer as a mysterious figure now stands before us.

The minute I saw who it was, I gasp really loud. It was a woman wearing a very fancy toga that can almost make her look like a princess, and her hair was long and strawberry blonde tied to a one side braid with a gold ribbon. And don't get me started on her golden accessories, one word - radiant.

The lady smiled at us which made us immediately calm, enough for Deacon to stop hugging me and managed to see eye to eye with her.

"Umm… w-who are you?" Deacon ask.

"I am Calliope, the muse of epic poetry; one of the nine muses who presided over the arts."

Deacon blink his eyes before responding. "The muses?! No way! You're a… Goddess!"

"That's right." She smiled.

I can't believe it, a goddess. This is the first time I'm meeting a divinity. Who would have thought that they would live here? This is so awesome, really really awesome.

Before I realize it, Calliope eyed me with a confused look. It was as if she was studying me for a bit, and then she look at the both of us again. "Would the two of you like to see our place? You must have travel very far, if you like; you can stay with us." She offered which… confused me.

"Really? We get to live with goddesses? We would love too, right sky?"

I uh, seriously don't know how to respond. She just met us and now all of a sudden she's welcoming us and even allowing us to stay with her? That just made me suspicious, I know she must be a nice goddess but… I'm sure she must have a good reason to do that. I just don't know what it is.

"Um… Sky?" Deacon called out to me and I managed to respond by looking at him. "What do you say? Can we stay here?"

Well… maybe it wouldn't be bad, I mean she did generously offer us a place to stay, and; it would be rude to decline a goddess so…

Sure, why not?

I nodded my head to Deacon and he smiled back. "We're in goddess, so where is your place?" Deacon didn't hesitate to question her.

"Right this way." She gestured to the two of us.

We followed her around the mountains below, and after 1 minute - we finally made it to the place where she live.

As expected of a goddess, a huge golden marbled temple and a spectacular courtyard filled with beautiful flowers and plants; that's what I call a prime real estate. And to think it's just around the corner of this huge mountain.

"This is our temple where we live, though; in reality we barely ever lived here because we sometimes live on Mount Olympus whenever lord Apollo wishes. That's why it's okay for the two of you to stay here, make yourself at home."

"Woah, thanks, goddess lady. This rock!" Deacon sounds excited.

As for me, not so much - I mean can you blame me? I still don't know the reason why this goddess is letting us live here; total strangers that she just met a few minutes ago.

"Can I have a look around please?" Deacon ask politely.

And the goddess chuckled in response. "Of course, if you're lucky you'll be able to meet my other sisters. They'll help you navigate our home."

And with that Deacon immediately left to explore this place, and he left without me. Guess he was so excited that he forget his best friend? That's cold…

"Ahem, Sky. May I speak with you privately?"

I look at Calliope, a little bit taken back by the sudden favor. Wonder what could she possibly want to talk to me about? And not without Deacon, it must be serious.

I nodded my head and the goddess took that as a sign that I'm in, she escorted away from the temple until we reach a clearing near the mountain's forest.

As soon as we made it, the goddess took a deep breath before she approach me. "Hold still, this won't hurt."

I was so confused, now what she's gonna do?

Without I realize it, she put her left hand on my muzzle and I can already feel weird energy coursing through my body. It was so warm and relaxing, I couldn't help but almost fell asleep; luckily I managed not to.

After that, she let go.

"Okay, you can speak now Sky."

"Huh? What did you say?" I couldn't believe it. "I can speak?"

"That's right, I used my power to make gods understand you. Mortals won't be able to though, but that's as far as my powers can go."

This is unbelievable, she's telling me - I can now communicate with her? That's crazy, kinda sad I can't speak to Deacon if I'm being honest.

"You are a very unique creature you know that? Ever since I laid eyes on you for the first time, I know you must be special."

"Is that why you kept looking at me with such a tense look the first time we came here?"

"Giggle… Yes, that's right, sorry for making you uncomfortable. But, I just want to make sure because…" She stopped for a moment, almost looking too hesitant to speak. She grinned her teeth and clench her hand into a fist near her chest, I can also see worried on her eyes too.

"Because what?"

"It's because…" She began. "You could be the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea."

I blinked my eyes a couple times, trying to process what she just said. "Excuse me, what?"

"I think you might be the son of Poseidon, I am certain because I heard a rumor that says the sons of medusa a winged horse and a giant escape from Sarpedon and I think it's you."

Woah woah woah, hang on a minute. Let me get this straight, she thinks I'm the son of a god? That's not possible, I mean if it's true then… this is too much to process. Is she really telling the truth? Could I be a child of a god?
