Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 An Attractive Bet

The beauty close at hand stirred Saru's mind, and all Artemis heard was a domineering voice ringing in her ears, "Let me teach you what it means to be afraid."

As soon as the words left his mouth, a touch of warmth covered Artemis's lips. In shock, her mouth was attacked and a wet, slippery tongue nimbly burrowed in.

Saru had only wanted to scare her, but her taste was even better than he had imagined, and in a moment, he couldn't resist his impulse, so his movements became more and more intense.

By the time Artemis came back to her senses, she was already pinned to the bed by the man. She struggled up, a hint of panic finally flashed in her eyes. The man's large hands were wantonly fondling every inch of her body, Artemis pushed against the man's chest with all her might, but her hands were clamped on top of her head by the impatient man, and her whole body fell into the man's hands completely.

Artemis felt a sudden sense of shame and indignation in her heart, and she panicked a little as she had never been exposed to such things before. At the last minute her wits were awakened and she said, "Don't you think that's boring?"

Saru stopped and raised his head to look at the purple eyes beneath him.

Artemis looked straight at him and said again, "Let's make a bet."

"Bet on which one of us falls in love with the other first, and the one who loses must live and die with the other person anyway. Don't you think it's more fulfilling to conquer a woman's heart than her body?"

Saru's eyes narrowed, and he had to admit that the woman's words impressed him, he let out a maniacal laugh from his chest, and Artemis could feel the vibrations from his chest. Fortunately she was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when he rolled out of bed.

"Artemis, you are very clever, but this bet, I win for sure, I wait for the day when you fall in love with me willingly."

He finished and left, a confident and arrogant aura coming from his back.

Artemis sighed in relief and fell heavily back onto the bed, her heart still lingering with the shivers that the man had brought her. She looked down at her chest, the red mark that had followed her all her life was gone. The discovery startled her, when had it disappeared?

What she could be sure of was that the mark existed before she met Saru. Was this all because of Saru?

She didn't have time to think about it when a maid came in at the door and knelt respectfully on the floor. No matter what Artemis asked, she did not respond, but simply returned with a single voice: "The people of Mandorla will be sent to the mines as slaves in half a month."

After saying this she stood behind her with her head down and did not move. No matter how altenis asked, she didn't answer, but just stood by.

Half a month?

Artemis was anxious in her heart. Since she had promised to be their queen, she was obliged to ensure their safety, and she would never let them become conquered people.

But she needed to feign laziness. She couldn't let Saru find that she still cared about them, or they would face greater danger.

But she also did not expect that after half a month had passed, Saru just seemed to have disappeared. Since that day he left, Artemis had not seen him again.

Artemis came out of his bedchamber. In order to show that she was not at all worried about the people of Mandorla, she had been good enough to stay in her bedchamber for half a month and had not come out.

However, seeing that the deadline was coming up, she finally couldn't sit still and got up to come outside. Only then did she realize that the palace was built on a pond with lotus flowers blooming on the water. Opposite was the emperor's chambers, with only a small bridge over the entire pond.
