*Author Note: Triple Shot cooldown removed, Decided that cooldowns wouldn't make sense in this context, as I am not designing this as a game-type world.
'Wonderful... But I will have to test that later.' Basmon though, and went back to paying attention to where Vatue was going.
Soon, they had reached the gates leading to the mountains.
"Ello Mate! I would like to leave to train in the mountains." Vatue told the checking guard, whose job it was to make sure no criminals were escaping the country.
"Really? Are you sure? Surely you know about the recent murders there..." The guard questioned.
"What? No... I didn't-"
'Master! Should we still go?' Vatue asked Basmon.
'Yeah, it's fine.'
"-But it's OK, I will still go. Thank you for the warning." Vatue thanked, nodding to the guard as he walked under the small door for single persons. He had to duck because he had now grown to 8 feet, 1 foot taller than the door. Thankfully, it was still wide enough.
"Wow... That wonderful, sweet, fresh air..." Vatue yelled, taking a deep breath in.
"God, the city felt so suffocating! Just look at the view!" Basmon shouted, running along in the tall grass, which was just tall enough to rub his calves.
"And look! The mountains!" He pointed to the mountains in the distance, running in the direction of the forest separating them.
"Dad! Isn't this awesome! This type of praire has to be perfect for an archer, right?" Vatue wondered in excitement.
'It depends on the archer, but yes, I do like the wonderful view.' Basmon responded telepathically.
'Wow... This could easily be a postcard photo...' Basmon thought to himself in wonder.
Soon, Vatue and Basmon started to walk towards the forest. Basmon wanted to feel the wonderfulness of open prairie, so he summoned spectral body, and went along with Vatue. Just in case, he also added on 3 more HP to it.
Soon, they had reached the middle of the prairie. Vatue needed some food, so they stopped and decided to hunt a prairie animal, specifically a Pragson.
After a bit of searching, they finally found one.
'Look! A creature with 3 horns and wings!' Vatue told Basmon telepathically.
'Yep. Here's the strategy: You jump onto its back, grounding it, and start attacking it. I will shoot at it from behind you until we kill it.' Basmon responded. 'I guess it's time to test my new skill...' Basmon thought to himself.
'That's kinda a lame strategy...'
'So? It's effective' Basmon scoffed, and Vatue ran towards the Pragson.
He jumped onto his back slamming the axes he summoned into his back.
"SCREAICCH" The Pragson made a horrific noise, whilst trying to throw Vatue off its back. Basmon immediately lined up his shot, and released a poison arrow.
"Thud." The arrow hit the Pragson, right in the thigh. Soon, the poison would start to kill the Pragson. He had used 50 Mana on it, so it had to be decently strong.
Vatue kept on attacking the Pragsons back, ending up knocking off 1 of its horns and almost entirely destroying a wing. After about 1 minute, the poison kicked in full force, causing the Pragson to fall to one knee, then die.
'Oh? I guess I got some kills when we attacked the church...' Basmon thought to himself.
"Umm... Master??? I think we may have angered its family... RUN!' Vatue suddenly screamed, jumping off the Pragsons back and running towards the forest.
'What? What Happened- Oh. Never mind.' Basmon wondered.
'Oh? I only need 40 more TP for arrow rain! How convenient!' Basmon thought to himself in excitement.
"DADDD!! HOW DO WE GET OUT OF THIS?" Vatue shouted at Basmon, who was running a bit from him, his spectral body still summoned.
'WAIT! JUST GET TO THE FOREST! THEN WE CAN HIDE IN A TREE!' Basmon shouted telepathically back.
"CAN YOU PLEASE USE YOUR INVISIBILITY SKILL?" Vatue begged.
'No can do, they have an excellent sense of smell. Invisibility would be a waste of mana. We need to get to the forest.'
They ran as fast as they could for a couple of miles until they finally reached the forest, the Pragsons still on their tale. Their horrific screeching could still be heard in the distance.
Both of them immediately climbed up a tree and sat on the top.
'Umm... Dad? I know this is a bad time... But I'm still hungry...' Vatue complained.
'Give me a bit. Once the Pragsons leave, we can get you some food. It'll just take a while.' Basmon responded.
'Ok...'
After about 8 hours of the Pragsons wandering around the base of the tree, not being able to fly up due to the thick underbrush, they left.
"Grumble!!!" Suddenly, Vatues stomach let out a huge roar.
'Pfft! I get it! You need food! Let's go get you some, Haha!' Basmon laughed, and they went searching for some other food.
Soon, they found a wild boar, and Vatue was able to kill it easily.
Soon, using Basmon's fire arrow, they had a campsite going quite well with a roaring fire, scaring off all animals thinking of attacking them. Soon, the sweet aroma of roasting pig wafted over the camp.
"Yum..." Vatue said as his mouth watered, having Basmon teach him how to cook.
'Man... I wish I could eat...' Basmon moaned.
"Why can't you?"
'Because I'm an item?'
"But you can summon that body, right? And it's not just a spiritual body too, right? So why not?"
'Well, First, I can't taste things. But second, I would not be able to digest it. Sure, it could fit into my mouth, but I don't even have lungs. This body is just a shell. That's why I can only talk telepathically."
"Oh... That sucks, sorry..."
Soon, Vatue was tearing into his boar meat while Basmon sat sadly beside him, looking on in jealousy. He was really starting to miss being a human.
'Dang it! System! Is there any way for me to get my human body back!' Basmon asked the system.
'What the... Ouch? Zoo? Zoo? Ich? What the...' Basmon just stared at the screen in confusion, the notification still ringing in his ear.
After thinking about it for a couple of minutes, he gave up, and just attributed it to a system glitch. He decided to note it in his head but forget about it for now. He might be able to ask the system about it later.
Soon, he and Vatue went to sleep.
'Oh thank god Spectral Body can let me sleep... At least I get some rest...' Basmon thought, thankful to the heavens.
After waking up, they once more started to travel to the mountains. The terrain soon became harder to travel on, and soon Basmons Spectral Body was harder to use than bow control, so he just used Bow Control. At some point, the brush become so thick that Vatue had to chop it down every time he wanted to move. They also accidentally knocked down a bee nest, and Vatue ended up having to go invisible for a bit whilst they escaped.
Finally, they reached the base of the mountains. They climbed up the mountains a bit, until the forest was below them.
Behind them, Basmon decided to set fire to the forest, as the underbrush was clearly to thick. That, and considering the number of animals there, he might just finish his quest.
He set up his stance and drew back a fire arrow. He then spent ALL of his mana on a power shot, and released it into the air. It flew extremely quickly until it finally landed some couple miles from them. Immediately, the fire started to spread.
After about 2 hours, there was a huge forest fire. Basmon and Vatue just kept climbing the mountain, getting higher and higher. What was scary was that this was one of the smaller mountains in this huge mountain range.
'Aw... Why couldn't it have been TP? Oh well... But system, what is flight?'
'Oh. That seems useful! I guess it's ok that I couldn't get 40 more TP. Especially since I basically cheated the quest...' Basmon thought to himself.
'Wait... Now the sole quest I need to complete is to make a bow shot from 100 Meters away with no skills but Spectral Body... Wow.' Basmon thought in shock.
Soon, he and Vatue had reached a small cavern in the cliff, where they decided to camp for the night. To their surprise, the entire day had passed them by. Vatue ate his leftovers of the boar, whilst Basmon started to set up a shooting range.
