Chereads / Her Vampire Mate / Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Silent treatment

Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Silent treatment

Ed woke up the next morning to an unusual eriee silence. Sleeping wasn't really a necessity for him but having his mate in his arms brought so much comfort in him that he found himself dreaming of flowers and butterflies in the summer, all thanks to his mate for just existing.

That aside, he was super exhausted, not something a vampire should be experiencing unless under dire situations and his body felt sore. In his arms lay his mate as she snuggled her warm body further into his embarce. He couldn't contain the smile that graced his lips.

But he had to go and meet Sarah and see what she had come up with. Hence, slowly and carefully, he got himself to uncoil his mate from himself and head down stairs. He threw in his silk robe and shut the door closed. By the door stood Winston who straightened up the moment Ed stepped out of the room.

Good morning your Highness!" the vampire greeted with a bow.

Get some rest." Ed said and flashed from the place leaving Winston's painstakingly styles hair a complete mess and the poor fellow could do nothing about it!

...........

Sarah had been up all night with Belinda but they had come across nothing useful for the whole night. She was a powerful witch but magic had a price to pay to it and all the possible methods they had encountered were dangerous for Clarabelle, something Ed wouldn't not agree to under any circumstances! Hence they scrapped those curses off and stored them for the last resort but they'd keep searching.

Ed walked through the enormous hallways and headed to the southern wing which had been left for the witch. The servants he came across would give deep bows to him despite having forbid them from doing so. Apparently, he was in good moods hence they could do what he forbid them and still survive.

He reached the end of the hallway to what looked like a wall yet in actual sense was a magical barrier set up by Sarah to keep uninvited guests out. With this barrier, she could see through her crystal ball who was invading her territory.

Ed walked through once the previous wall turned into mists and when he was completely out of sight, the wall barrier reformed itself.

........

Clarabelle stretched as she got out of bed. She didn't see Ed tjere hence she realised he had already left. The door to her room went open and her nanny made her way in.

Good morning your Highness!" she greeted.

Good morning nanny!" Clara greeted back with her toothless smile.

I believe her Highness had the best day out yesterday." the nanny begin as she helped Clarabelle out if her night dress. Clara realised her nanny wanted to know about her little adventures and she was more than delighted to tell her. Stepping into the bath tub, Clarabelle enthusiastically spoke about her day about. How the people would stare at her.

"I really don't understand what's the matter with humans!" Clarabelle pouted. Her nanny gave out a hearty laughter hearing the little princess refer her kind to as humans as if she wasn't a Human. Unintentionally, she had adapted to the manner of referring humans to that.

Also, Ed took me to the haunted house and we made the humans there cry! It was so funny!" she laughed along with her nanny.

But I thought haunted houses are dark! Could you see?" the nanny asked only curious but the answer she got froze her for a moment.

Very well! I can see when it's night like it's day! It's normal, right?!" Clarabelle asked then nodded her head to answer her own question. She found nothing abnormal about that!

The nanny helped her out of the bath tub and wrapped the princess of the castle with a fluffy pink towel then carried her over to the bed room. Clara's clothes had already been set and she nailed it with a blue summer dress with flat slippers, her hair was let loose and she was good to go!

She got down the bed once she was properly dressed and sprinted out of the room. Gladly, her nanny was used to this behaviour of her and was soon right besides the little human as she ran in her short legs! It was much a helpless situation for her and the vampire did her best to hold back her pearls of laughter. Reaching the enormous staircase, she scooped the little princess up making her squeal delightfully with happy giggles as the vampire flashed on the stairs as though they were on one of the crazy rides back when they went to the mall.

The nanny found herself laughing as she placed the small human down but her laughter died in her throat when she felt a chill down her spine. Clara also seemed to have caught on on that persons presence too as both human and vampire turned their heads simultaneously to look at the source.

Nanny gulped in fear while Clarabelle looked on in puzzlement. What's this Vamps problem!!! she wondered looking at the new face in their home with a scrutinizing gaze. Her blue eyes trailing the length of his extravagantly embroidered robe up to the face.

...............

Ed who had also chosen to be helpful and checked through the pile of books that hadn't been checked the previous night had in his gut feeling that the ambiance of the home had suddenly turned WRONG!

He let go of the book and went to check out the problem.

..........

Jes was returning from venting his frustration by proving useful throughout the whole night but was surprised to find an uninvited guest in his home! The guest was on an eye lockdown with Clarabelle. The insanely brave 5year old human!

Before he could even say a word or have his mind formulate anything, he first searched for Ed who seemed to not be in the room! But as if the vampire could hear his thoughts, he appeared in the room almost immediately.

Seeing who had come to visit, the temperature in the room grew tense. Jes swallowed a clump in his throat. Eyes on both his brothers, ready to step in if the situation called for it. Winston who was in charge of Clarabelle's safety was also at a close distance eyes trained in Clara, ready to move her any second.

Benard was smirking in amusement his gaze shifting from the small human to Ed, then to Jes, then to Belinda who had just appeared in the room, then to the Vampire Nanny? If that even made sense! He so much wanted to laugh but better than that, he wanted to see what could happen if he made a move to the small human.

This tense atmosphere only confirmed the reports he'd been getting of how Ed was overly protective of the human. What he had not expected was Jes, Belinda and other vampires in this castle!

However, while he was enjoying watching them being on their guards, one absolutely tiny being paid no heed to his presence and happily chripped towards Ed jumping into his arms. He was caught off guard but was quick to hold her.

Good morning Ed!" her baby voice rung out I the vast mansion unceremoniously killing the tense atmosphere.

Mm, good morning princess!" Ed said rubbing her hairs adoringly as his gaze softened. I woke up and you were not sleeping on my bed. So, I told nanny about our day out yesterday and she was happy for me!" she informed him about her morning. This made Ed laugh yet Benard couldn't help but scowl. When was the last time he saw that smile! He loathed it!

"A way to ignore your king, brothers!" Benard said and drew the attention back to him but no one said a word. His eyes flickered to Clara who was in Ed's arms and smirked evilly. "Still keep the weaklings tied to yourself, I see!" He sneered and Ed's eyes turned blood red!

The house went as silent as a grave yard.

What does he want?!!!!!
