Over the past years, Ed only returned to check on his mate twice a year. Clara had shifted to another city along with her brother in law, Jes, to an ancient palace in the north. It was vast sitting on acres upon acres of land. Though it's inside was gloomy to the colour and less light came in, the outside of the palace was a contrast opposite as it was a vibrant landscape filled with coloured trees and Fields of flowers. It was spring and the place was so beautiful and breathtaking. It had a striking resemblance to their homeland back in the days before the whole odreal.
It was Belinda's idea as she missed those days and the beauty that surrounded them.
When Ed came over for the first time, she burst out in tears and engulfed him in a sisterly hug. She cried so hard that she ran back to her mate and literally bawled her eyes out.
Her cries made little Clara burst out crying too which was a sight to watch because Belinda froze and looked on wide eyed like a deer in headlights as she searched the source of the cry. When she first saw the crib in which Clara was, she stumbled back on her feet and almost butt kissed the floor if not for her mate who was fast to catch her.
She got to know of Clara and her relationship and she was once again super emotional as she carried the infant carefully. "Clarabelle Anastasia Acheron." she whispered the baby's name with tears. Of course there was celebration and welcoming the little one in the world and Ed's life. They thanked the heavens for offering Ed another chance and all.
Ed only stayed for that night and he didn't come back after. His thirst had grown and was always almost driven mad by the scent of her. The witch, Sarah who was also now staying in the palace had been working for nights after nights as she tried to find a tonic that could help curb Ed's thirst. She had been going around the whole planet, both realms, collecting blood and various magical herbs.
Since what had started as something done willingly by Ed himself, he started fighting them to get to his mate as they kept him as far away from him as possible.
At this time, Sarah was sure she had made the perfect and most potent potion to curb the vampire's thirst and she was proceeding to the room where they had literally chained him to keep him in place.
His mate was now 5 years old and could speak more fluently. She was so adorable and a really smart little one. She had been coming to consult with Sarah about the whole magical world though they tried not to expose her much to it.
Opening the doors to the basement where the dungeons were, Sarah walked elegantly with her tray of potions. From a distance, she could hear the snarls echo in the hallways along with the ruttling of chains. Reaching her destination, the doors opened for her and revealed a really worried Belinda along with Jes and two other vampires. It's done!" she declared with a successful smile.
Really?" Belinda asked hopefully as she rushed over to get the tonics. Hearing that the tonics were done, Ed also stopped struggling to get free and looked at the small bottles hopefully.
He had also been longing to get to meet his mate without wanting to drink her dry. Ed's red eyes followed Jes as he went to collect the small bottles from Sarah. He licked his lips, tongue grazing over his sharp canines hungrily.
"If you take this today, you are going to have to wait here for two more days as the potions kick in. It's effects take long to kick in but last longer, hopefully your body will succumb to the long lasting effects I've inserted into the drug." Sarah explained as her audience listened carefully.
As the peace lasted for only a few minutes, a wave of thirst hit Ed real hard that he launched himself off the chains that were binding his left wrist as he growled. His nails long and sharp, he aimed to break free off the other chain but Jes and his two hunch men were fast as they held him back. Luckily, the chains on his legs were still gripping him tight
"Belinda, get those here!" Jes yelled to Belinda who was fast to act. The black potion was poured into Ed's mouth according to Sarah's instructions and they patiently waited then the green one was also poured into his mouth. The potions worked their magic as Ed calmed down from the high, or more shut down.
In the palace gardens, a little girl ran after the butterflies. The whole place was blooming in flowers of different colours and her hair fluttered with the winds as she giggled. In the shade away stood two maids who were watching the mischievous human and in the shadows stood a guard assigned to keep her safe if need arose.
Clarabelle Anastasia Acheron had grown into a beautiful little girl who was kind smart and considerate. Her interaction with Ed had been cut short die to the growth of his thirst for her. Clara looked at the maids who were watching her like hawks and giggled at their misery, poor women hated being exposed to the light but because she didn't have a disease like theirs, she could come out in the sun and play with the butterflies.
Sarah had told her to stay out today for a while to have her fill of fun but she knew Ed was in the castle. Looking up to the magnificent palace, her blue eyes deemed and lost their glow. Looking away, she felt her excitement to play outside all day had died down.
Ed was her favourite but he wasn't always there. She recalled that all the time he came to visit her, they'd play all day and he'd take her to fly! That was her best experience! He'd also take her to the city where she'd have tonnes of ice-cream without being restricted...the only thing she needed to do was wear one big smile or cry her eyes out and everything would go her way!
'Smart! Aren't I?'
Stepping out of the sun, she ran to the shade and visible saw the maids relax. I'm tired. I'll be heading back inside." She said to them I. her childish voice and walked past them.
"Aren't you hungry?" The maids asked simultaneously.
"No, I'm fine!" she dismissed them and went on through the castle walls singing her favourite song.
~~~Do you wanna build a snowman...or ride a bike around the hall?
I never see you anymore but keep talking to the pictures on the wall! Hey there Eddy!
It's get really lonely with all these empty rooms...watching the years go by.....Do you wanna build a snowman....it doesn't have to be a snowman!!!"
Unknown to her, her feet were leading her all the way to the hallways that led to the dungeons. The pathway there was exceptionally dark that she found it hard to see which path she could take. From a distance, she could hear painful cries echoing.
"Locked away...in the darkness
I know your there....
The pain when you cry tells me so.
If only I was....big enough!"
She looked up at the fire torches that lit the pathway.
"I'd get the lights to set you free....
And if that's not.. possible...
I'll come and join you
In the darkness" she sung watching the place and the cries somehow died down. She looked at the red line where her small feet stood and smiled sadly.
Sarah, Belinda and Jes had told her never to cross that line to go to the dungeons in her life because it wasn't safe and she wasn't willing to break the promise she made that day. With a sad pout, she turned her back and went off to her room.
