Peace reigned after Jes left and Ed's days started drifting off calmly. He managed to take care of his mate and Chris' presence was required less.
Jes made sure to always drop by and bring his little brother blood to sustain him and revive his power.
Jes also grew fond of his brother's mate and would play with her, feed her and cloth her when the latter permitted him to do so, bit that was after constant pleading. The two brothers never got a chance to sit down and talk things through...the things that happened in the past were left to the past.
Days drifted to months and Ed couldn't be any happier as he watched his mate grow steadily and healthy. She learnt how to move herself and that was one of the most heartwarming moments for Ed. She had been lying on his bed as he sat, leaning aganist the headboard to read some books that Jes brought him.
That's when he noticed her struggling to flip herself over since she was laying on her back. He gracefully placed the book aside and wanted to offer her help but was stopped by Jes who had popped into the room uninvited.
"No! Let her.....this is a stage. She must do it on her own!" he insisted and Ed thought it through before he stayed back to watch her. His mate made many attempts but she was failing miserably, her small body went about swinging with momentum to over turn herself but failed even after twenty minutes of constant trying.
Feeling frustrated, she burst out bawling her eyes shocking the centuries old vampires in the room. Ed was the first to rush over to help carry her but came to a stop almost immediately. Jes was no different! And in those seconds they were caught off guard, the baby managed to flip herself to lay on her stomach. She was so excited that she jubilated frailing her arms and legs in the air....a pose of those who normally skydive do during the sport. Making baby sounds along, she laughed triumphantly.
The vampires on the other hand were studying themselves. Ed was shocked! Jes was paler!
Did she just tap on Ed's essence?!!!!!!!!!!!
A minute ago, when the brothers tried to aid her, and she cried out, Ed felt a tough tag to his essence and Jes was able to feel it since he was blood related to Ed. This type of ability was only heard of in history of the first vampyrs! That was around five thousand generations in their kind before they were born!
A portion of Ed's hair at his right side lost its vibrant brown and turned pale white.
When Jes turned back to ask Ed if he wasn't hallucinating, he happened to notice the change on Ed's hair making his eyes widen in horror. She had tagged so much power from him that his hair changed colour!!!! If she continued tagging at his essence then, it'd be fatal for Ed.
"Ed...your...your hair has turned white!" Jes pointed out making the latter raise a hand to his long hair. And true as the words Jes said, Ed noticed that a few strands in his hair had turned white ...standing out alot in his brown hair.
"Naughty mate." Ed chuckled harmlessly with apparent amusement. His mate was a little thief! He didn't mind though, he was just surprised.
"What? NAUGHTY!! Ed, do you hear yourself? This is deadly!!! She could kill you!" Jes was spooked. If she could tag so much energy from Ed when she was only six months old...then what would happen if she grew older?
"You are not the one dying. She is my mate." Ed replied nonchantly which meant, she could do as she pleased with him as long as she was happy. He collected his mate from where she lay and cuddled her in his arms. She was so happy as her small hands reached out for the white strands to play with them.
Jes's mouth hang open at what Ed had said. Those were facts, yes he knew and understood! But such attitude towards the whole situation was perturbing! However, he didn't say more but excused himself.
Time flew by and the baby took her first steps. The clothes in her wardrobe didn't fit her anymore hence she and her ' daddy' had to go shopping. She didn't call him dad though, she tried with his Ed name though it came out wrongly but cutely.
Uncle Christopher was in charge of driving them over to the mall and generally showing them around. Both Vampyr and baby were dressed in black pants and a white t-shirt.Ed had his hair bundled up in a ban letting a few strands fall over the edge of his eyes. He looked so beautiful. He hadn't been to the saloons because it was important for the royal Vampyr bloodline to retain their hair. The turned and low ranking vampires mostly cut their hair short.
Settling in the back seat of the car with his mate in arm, Chris set off to head to the mall. It took them around fifteen minutes and they were already at the mall. He suggested that Ed puts on shades since his unique eye colour attracted quite alot of attention but the Vampyr sturbbonly refused.
Though some still asked about where he had disappeared to, his news and photos had died down over the months, however, many from the entertainment industry and advertising had been using his style of clothing that day he had appeared and others wore contact lenses of a purple colour.
With his mischievous mate in his arms who was busy playing with his white strands of hair, which seemed to have become her favourite play toy, he made his way to the mall and the effect was worse. He had been a sensation and many still longed to see him, if he even was real!
Women dropped what they were holding, others squealed in delight, many turned their heads over to catch a second glimpse of him as he walked into the mall to the kids store. The baby in his arms was also strikingly gorgeous and extremely cute with her deep blue eyes and straight blonde hair.
Funny enough, over the year, he had not yet gotten her a name. He always called her either baby or mate.
The media had already been informed and they had crowded the mall. His images again were making rounds on the internet and Chris did his best to shop real fast so that the two sinfully handsome and beautiful duo go back home! While he was having heart attacks and strokes, the duo were nonchalant to the attention they had.
'Baby' was throwing away the things that were brought and weren't to her liking. Ed was well behaved and he'd put them aside. Chris wished he'd just scream at the duo. The crowd watched attentively at the exchange forgetting to record. Everyone who had gone within Ed's range was put under an illusion Ed created.
Chris was really troubled with his boss's behaviour but then...he noticed something was off with the crowd. They were standing still and had silly smiles in their faces, moreover, their eyes were not focused.He turned back to look at Ed who gave him a confirmation smirk as though he could read his mind.
He was no ancient royal Vampyr bloodline for nothing!
After three hours of shopping, Ed took his mate to pick out playtoys in the toy centre. Her blue eyes glittered as she watched the different dolls with vibrant colours, she fought to get down and we'll, that was the start of 'baby's day out 2'
