No sooner had he spoken when an unseeing basketball flew over from the next court, aimed right at his face. The ball was fast, stirring up the wind. He instinctively turned his head away and raised his hand to block. His fingers didn't touch the ball; they touched a hard piece of bone that hurt from the impact. He turned his head and saw the owner of the hand.
