Mollie Jones remembered her first meeting with Rae Bennett; it was three years ago when her daughter was sick and in urgent need of money. She was looking for part-time jobs everywhere. Later on, Mr. Bailey approached her, offering her a job, but she had to sign a contract before starting.
She asked Mr. Bailey what the job was, and he said it was just cleaning, with occasional cooking.
Mollie thought it was a regular nanny job, but two things in the contract were odd. One was the salary, which was paid daily and unreasonably high. The other was a clause stating that she must not speak a word about the employer's affairs. Desperate for money, she didn't ponder much and signed the contract.
The employer's house where she was to work was located in a suburban villa, with a large garden filled with fruit trees, hibiscuses, and sunflowers covering the ground, and ivy creeping up the walls.
