Rae Bennett's good mood lasted until after dinner because Wyatt Wright still hadn't come back.
He had sent Miss Watson a message that he was safe.
[The flight is delayed.]
[All is well, don't worry.]
"Snow has fallen in Osla, so he'll probably have to wait until tomorrow," said Miss Watson to Rae, "Go back and freshen up, then get some early rest."
Lily was in Rae's arms, overfed with cat food and dozing off with droopy eyelids.
Rae placed Lily in her cat bed and said to Miss Watson, "You should also get some rest early."
After bidding each other goodnight, Rae returned to the nineteenth floor. She lay on the sofa, not wanting to move at all, spacing out for over half an hour before she got up to wash up.
The wind outside was strong, and Rae couldn't sleep, tossing and turning for a long time until she checked her phone and saw it was already past midnight.
She got out of bed, donned a cardigan, and took her cigarettes and lighter to the balcony.
