During lunch, Rae Bennett listened as Piper Harmon talked about Master Flores.
"The folks in the Service Hall are spreading rumors that Master Flores can't become a regular employee because she has a criminal record."
Rae Bennett quietly ate her meal, not joining in on the topic.
Madam Raven asked, "What kind of criminal record?"
Piper Harmon looked around to make sure no outsiders were present before she said, "They say she's killed someone before."
Madam Raven didn't believe it: "That must be a wild rumor, right? Wouldn't she have received a long sentence for murder? Master Flores is only in her twenties."
"I heard," Piper Harmon lowered her voice, "that she was just fourteen years old when she killed, too young, so the sentence wasn't heavy."
After hearing this, Madam Raven tapped Piper Harmon's plate with the end of her chopsticks as a reminder, "Don't spread things you're not sure about."
