At noon, Rae Bennett had repair work to do and didn't have time to come home for lunch.
Around three o'clock, Miss Watson called her.
"Rae, are you busy this afternoon?"
"Not busy."
Miss Watson said, "Gerald and Mollie are also coming over tonight. If you're free, you can come home early."
Mollie Jones and Gerald Bennett were coming to celebrate Rae's birthday.
Rae agreed, "Okay."
Miss Watson had asked Rae yesterday whether she wanted to celebrate her birthday out or at home.
Rae wanted to stay at home.
"Your dad has prepared lots of delicious food," said Miss Watson, who was always warm and hospitable. "If you have any friends you want to invite, feel free to bring them."
"I'll bring two of my colleagues over."
Miss Watson replied that she could bring as many as she liked; the more, the merrier.
After hanging up, Miss Watson tried to call Wyatt Wright, but couldn't get through.
"What's going on with Wyatt? Can't even get through on the phone."
