Wyatt Wright's concern wasn't Alfie Young, but Henry Young. Rae Bennett didn't have many relatives, and although she didn't interact closely with Henry on a regular basis, they were still cousins. Given how much she cared for Leroy Bennett, it was impossible for her to not care at all about her cousin, Henry.
In fact, she was quite sentimental, she just didn't know it herself. Wyatt didn't want her to become an island. He intended to leave her some wiggle room in everything.
