"I'm here to pick you up."
Rae Bennett put away her notebook and closed the lid. "Where are you?"
"Outside the Bennett Family home."
Before she came, she had sent a message to Wyatt Wright on Whatsapp.
She walked to the window and parted the curtains; the rain blurred the night, only the vague outlines were visible.
He stood outside the yard, quietly holding a black umbrella.
"Have you finished your work?"
"No, the rain is too heavy, I came to take you back first."
Wyatt Wright looked up, towards the lighted second floor.
Rae waved from the window. "Wait for me, I'll pack up my things."
"Mhm."
The curtains were drawn shut again.
The rain was too heavy, splashing water that wet his shoes, but Wyatt Wright didn't care, his head down watching the ripples the streetlight made in the puddles.
It was only at the sound that he looked up.
"Mr. Wyatt."
