Wyatt Wright was photographed with another girl.
Rae Bennett had seen her just this afternoon, Darcy Long.
"I ran into her in the parking lot when I went to pick you up."
Rae Bennett sat up straight, deliberately pulling a stern face, and started her interrogation mode, "Do you know her?"
Wyatt Wright sat down, "I don't."
"You don't know her and still got photographed?"
Her tone rose several degrees, as if she was ready to scratch someone if the answer wasn't satisfactory.
Wyatt, however, remained calm, replying to each question, "She came over to thank me."
"Thank her for what?"
"She said I helped her, but I don't remember doing so."
Rae Bennett was still unhappy, although she believed Wyatt, "And then?"
"There's no then."
Hmph.
Rae Bennett kicked a throw pillow from the sofa to the floor.
Wyatt picked it up, "Are you angry?"
"No." Rae Bennett lay down, turned over, facing the back of the sofa, "I'm not that petty."
