Rae Bennett never believed in coincidences.
The place Juan Morris picked was indeed quite coincidental; the quiet bar was right opposite the Gem Entertainment company building. Rae had a drink and couldn't drive, so she waited on the street for a ride-hailing service. The driver kept apologizing over the phone, saying there was a traffic jam and they would be delayed a bit more.
She had not yet given the payment to Clement Atkins that had prompted Matthew James to speak.
Rae crossed the street and entered the Gem Entertainment building. In front of the elevator, there was a pedestrian gate that required an employee badge for access.
Rae walked up to the reception desk.
The administrative receptionist stood up: "Hello."
"I'm looking for Clement Atkins."
"Do you have an appointment?"
"No," Rae said, having made a spur-of-the-moment decision.
