Residential Area was a no-firework zone. At nine o'clock, the fireworks display started at Mingspace, organized by the Ming Office. Star Delight Mansion was quite far from the square, so people in the area couldn't hear the sounds, but they could see the fiery trees and silver flowers filling the sky.
It was lively downstairs, with children playing with firecrackers and rocket monkeys. Wyatt Wright brought his camera down to capture the fireworks in the sky, the light strings on the trees, the smiling faces of children, and Rae Bennett playing with a sparkler.
Miss Watson carried Lily Wright, strolling and chatting with her card-game friends. The myriad of lights in the Residential Area was on, facing the distant fireworks from the square.
Today was a day for family joy, but not every household was joyful.
