Uncle Michael opened his mouth in shock, his face a mixture of terror and stupefaction. He glimpsed the remainder of his life in the horrifying pool of blood on the ground.
He slowly looked up to face the man before him, a man who exuded an air of both defeatism and fatigue. His eyes, deep as the darkest coral reef, were filled with a cruel and merciless laughter that suggested Uncle Michael would be his next target.
"I...I didn't see anything...I beg you, please don't hurt me..." Uncle Michael cried out, his face pallid with fear as his legs gave out from under him.
The hand in which Caleb Baker held his gun hung heavy at his side.
Fingers casually caressing the safety, he let out a soft chuckle, "Why so nervous?"
"A law-abiding citizen like me won't waste my energy on a maggot like you."
