The phone connected, but no one answered.
Yvonne Finley sighed, looking out the window at the swaying vibrant roses. They hadn't been cared for in the past few days and some were turning yellow, not as beautiful as before.
Suddenly, she remembered her childhood, when she was in her teens - the age when a girl starts to love beauty. She was abandoned by the Finley family and tormented in a mental institution. One summer night, she sat on the side of the road, watching girls returning home late with joyful smiles on their faces and beautiful roses in their arms, smiling so beautifully.
That was the first time she fell in love with a flower.
Because she was envious of how that girl could genuinely smile from her heart.
An emotion she had never experienced before.
That was the day, she sat on the side of the road for a long time.
Her uncle came and picked her up, carrying a rose with him.
He said, "Whatever Yvonne wants, she will get."
