Grace Webb moved slightly, feeling a dull pain in her chest, as if her ribs had been cracked. She frowned, inhaling a sharp breath of cold air. Looking down, she pulled back the covers to find herself completely bare, with no garment to cover her modesty.
An icy look crossed her face as she instinctively glanced towards the door.
Memory flashes swirled in her mind, the man's insane and inhumane expression, him dragging her into the sea. She'd lived a life where she prided herself in not being good, yet she was completely powerless in his presence.
Grace took a moment to catch her breath, then she flung off the covers and got out of bed. She hastily grabbed a bedsheet to wrap herself, and ventured out of the room. The simplistic deep-blue fabric sofa, a coffee table, walls tiled with ceramic, all complementing the gray marble floor.
Her first impression was that it was empty.
With hardly any furniture, it looked like a minimalist apartment.
She took two steps.
