A layer of vexation finally surfaced in her eyes, akin to being at a loss, unsure how to face him at this moment. His demeanor, wholly unlike his usual self, pricked at her nose with a sour feeling.
After hesitating for a while, she approached him.
While he smoked, the flickering flame on his lips illuminated the handsome decadence on his face, a kind of forbidden and carnal collusion.
"Why are you smoking?" She reached out to brush off a water droplet at the tip of his hair," Didn't you say you disliked it?"
Caleb Baker lifted his brow, his eyes gazing at her with an alien intensity as he replied in a slightly hoarse voice caused by the smoke: "When I smoke, my throat suffers, I feel discomfort in my lungs, I feel dizzy, nauseous, and very uncomfortable."
Shocked, Yvonne quickly went to grab the cigarette from his mouth.
